An unknown error has occured

So I can't verify my account, I have the right code but it keeps saying unknown error not sure what to do.

Does it say "Unknown Error" or "Unknown Network Error" (a screenshot would be helpful here)? Also, can you take us through - step by step - what you were doing until you got the error?

Sometimes adblockers can get in the way of the site, depending on the browser you use.

If you have an adblocker, try disabling it temporarily, or use another browser.

exactly as I wrote it, an unknown error has occured. and it's not on the site, its on the steam app so no idea.

That's a bit different then I suppose. Usually a Steam issue.

If you go into the game's folder and try to run the game's .exe manually, what happens?

Out of curiosity, is it something along the same lines as what the poster has written here?: http://forums.maplestory.nexon.net/discussion/23610/error-occured-while-verifying-my-existing-account

Additionally, have you checked to see if your game files need repair? If not and/or you don't know how, refer to this link[support.nexon.net] for instructions. (I also recommend doing it, even after you have successfully logged out regardless if you're using Steam or the Nexon Launcher.)

yes I do get the same message as the MapleStory player, the game doesn't need to be repaired, going into the game folder does nothing, I even contacted Nexon they don't seem to know, so I might end up making new account I guess

Have you tried using the Nexon Launcher to see if it may have something to do with the Steam version?

Usually when this error happens it's nothing wrong with the steam version, but with Steam itself being a doop.

It's a very hard error to fix though. Sometimes it just goes away after a restart of the PC, or just waiting several days. Sometimes people just reinstall Steam. Sometimes people reinstall their entire computer.

You can always try the version on Nexon's website, but keep the current Steam version and keep trying every few days (or other things perhaps) to see if you can get it to work. Then when it does work, just uninstall the vanilla version and play the Steam version like normal.

They are pretty much virtually the same version. The only difference between the two is the Steam API.
