the game may not be booming but what you exect from a game this old do you think million players longed in every week and the servers burning from over logging.
I have.
I don't have time to spend hours and hours and hours and hours grinding gold buying reforges and hoping I get blessed with good RNG without paying out of my ass so I can actually *DO* the new content. Sorry.
Everyone just sitting around Dunbarton, or fighting infront of the healers house.
We know not to expect alot of hussle and bussle from millions of people, but the game is essentially dead mate. Nobody really does anything except try to play dress up, or flex on others with their superior, broken fighting skills.
I loved the game when I was a regular, I devoted a great deal of time and money because of said love. But the thing is, there's not a lot you can do, and what you can do is shrinking as fewer, and fewer are playing.
It's like if in WoW, you effectively completed an expansion, you did everything noteworthy, so all that's left is either PVP or RPing.
It's over. The game had a good run, left some good memories, some bad, but now...it's over. I'm sorry Paul.
I mean no other MMORPG games come close to the amount of popularity that World of Warcraft had during its lifespan (which is still going strong), but Mabinogi was able to thrive for some time before stagnating into the current state we have now so I'd say it did pretty good...
No surprise here if most players burned through the amount of content (plus microtransactions) in Mabi after years of playing where nostalgia wore off and new updates that doesn't seem to keep people interested. New players are given super boost to catch up with other players so that they participate in recent additions to the game...
I don't know what can prevent any game that has been running more than 10 years from its certain and inevitable death...
You're both crazy. We go back to G1, combat and all. perfection.
Also Old Combat wins by far.
I CAST NECROMANCY UPON YE. Jokes aside, turning Mabinogi into a blatant p2w ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (in addition to a pretty significant number of glaring issues technical and otherwise) contributed to the game being a miserable experience overall (and much of the game being heavily reliant on RNG and fear of losing gear and much of your time/effort). The game is stuck surviving on plenty of whales opening their wallets to get the latest gachapon so they can make their characters look "XD kawaii" or for reforges/shortcutting to end-game equipment. That said, the game's "activity" of 9500 players is mostly an illusion; artificially inflated with bots and AFK events more often than not and even if the population of active players drops to ~1500, the anime-addicted whales will keep the game afloat as long as Nexon slow-drips gachapon and pets to sate 'em.
while it does have p2w features...having played it over 10 years i wouldnt call it a blatant p2w game. i havent spent a lot of money in the game itself and the only thing ive ever bought was a few pets. the game has many events in which if you played, you get many many free items like rebirth potions among other things. its very generous to its free to play members more so than a lot of games that have a free to play service. now about the "significant number of glaring technical issues" that you've ran into well ive never encountered any so i cant comment on that, in the 10 years ive played the only issue I have ever had with Mabinogi is the trade update in which the increased the difficulty of trade, which was years ago, but that hardly has anything to do with technical issues. I have never ran into any bugs or anything like that, maybe im just fortunate or something? Dunno.as for whales, well i havent paid for anything in mabi since the first few years i started playing, I may in august perhaps depending on how things go, but my money is set towards something else at the moment. The game does still have a few stream of steady flowing players moving into it, as the guild I am in which is rather large and active has new members all the time, who are indeed new players to the game as well, not all but a lot of them are. As far as bots go, I frequent ch1 which is the most populated channel at any one time usually, and the bots are hardly an issue as much as they used to be I see maybe one here or there and i just mute it, every now and again i may see two in dunby but thats about it.
anyways just my input on what ive seen in the game myself, I started playing on the nexon client through the website, and eventually switched to the steam client because i didnt feel the need to download the nexon client when i dont play any of the games on the client other than mabi anymore.
