Super Dead?
Lol I didn't think Mabi would still be around considering community has 530 players left in game...are there more that I just don't know about?

Would be damn shame if this game dies out

its not dead but of course the only ones who chime in are "vetreans" who havent played the game in years and wont even try it again because of some moronic persomtion its ruined and wont even try newer conet because its not as flashy as they exect it to be.

the game may not be booming but what you exect from a game this old do you think million players longed in every week and the servers burning from over logging.

Me. Like, today actually. I came back to windows because I needed it for something.

I have.

I don't have time to spend hours and hours and hours and hours grinding gold buying reforges and hoping I get blessed with good RNG without paying out of my ass so I can actually *DO* the new content. Sorry.

I had come back to the game on multiple occasions, probably 5 times and it's been more or less the same, even with new big changes.

Everyone just sitting around Dunbarton, or fighting infront of the healers house.

We know not to expect alot of hussle and bussle from millions of people, but the game is essentially dead mate. Nobody really does anything except try to play dress up, or flex on others with their superior, broken fighting skills.

I loved the game when I was a regular, I devoted a great deal of time and money because of said love. But the thing is, there's not a lot you can do, and what you can do is shrinking as fewer, and fewer are playing.

It's like if in WoW, you effectively completed an expansion, you did everything noteworthy, so all that's left is either PVP or RPing.

It's over. The game had a good run, left some good memories, some bad, but now...it's over. I'm sorry Paul.

The game is not as dead as it is in KR compared to other regions but it has certainly lost its steam from what it had 10 years ago.

I mean no other MMORPG games come close to the amount of popularity that World of Warcraft had during its lifespan (which is still going strong), but Mabinogi was able to thrive for some time before stagnating into the current state we have now so I'd say it did pretty good...

No surprise here if most players burned through the amount of content (plus microtransactions) in Mabi after years of playing where nostalgia wore off and new updates that doesn't seem to keep people interested. New players are given super boost to catch up with other players so that they participate in recent additions to the game...

I don't know what can prevent any game that has been running more than 10 years from its certain and inevitable death...

Saddly this is a fact. Spirit weapons revamp is something we should have gotten years ago.

I feel like if they were to revamp this on a new game engine, and change the combat system a little bit toward like.. C9 style combat people would play it keep the same content but just revamp combat system to more action based it would be interesting for sure

That's gonna be a no from me dawg. On the combat style anyway. Vindictus combat style would be far better. Could even mix it with how raiderz did some if where you had a minute amount of skills on the hot bar.

You're both crazy. We go back to G1, combat and all. perfection.

Also just a sidenote but EU players cannot play through steam.
Also Old Combat wins by far.
Demonheim_ttv Jan 3, 2020 @ 12:01pm
most ppl play via nexon client. there are also other clients that play mabi as well.

It's more in demand now than it was back then, imo.

Back in generation 1, a lot of people didn't like Mabinogi because it was too confusing and the combat "felt clunky" to a lot of people (y can i no click people and win???) The game is so much more casual now than it was back then. Hell, I can level up to level 50 by just sitting on my butt, when back then trying to reach level 50 could take at least a couple of weeks of actually playing the game. Having more than 350 HP was considered tanky as all hell.

A lot of Mabinogi's population left and began declining severely when the hacking and botting problem got very serious and a bunch of fake Hebona robes were going around and they did a massive rollback and removed many Hebona robes (some which were legit). Half of my friends list legit quit the game when that happened and never looked back.

Then there's also the problem when Nexon support was taking up to TWO YEARS to answer support tickets.

Not really, runescape's older than mabinogi.

Back in g1 people didn't like mabinogi because literally everything was tied behind VIP service.

Also it's casual now? What? Every armor in the game had the same stats back then, barring durability and blacksmith bonuses, not having gear to work towards is as casual as you can get in mabinogi. Wait no, having no raids, no field bosses, and a laughable auction house-esque system would be more casu- oh wait.

Mabinogi felt a decline and never recovered because of reforges, everyone warned that turning the game into a blatant pay2win would make it worse, and it did. Then came the event decline where it was just a PvP-fest, or some rehash of a daily quest to keep people logged in.

I CAST NECROMANCY UPON YE. Jokes aside, turning Mabinogi into a blatant p2w ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (in addition to a pretty significant number of glaring issues technical and otherwise) contributed to the game being a miserable experience overall (and much of the game being heavily reliant on RNG and fear of losing gear and much of your time/effort). The game is stuck surviving on plenty of whales opening their wallets to get the latest gachapon so they can make their characters look "XD kawaii" or for reforges/shortcutting to end-game equipment. That said, the game's "activity" of 9500 players is mostly an illusion; artificially inflated with bots and AFK events more often than not and even if the population of active players drops to ~1500, the anime-addicted whales will keep the game afloat as long as Nexon slow-drips gachapon and pets to sate 'em.

while it does have p2w features...having played it over 10 years i wouldnt call it a blatant p2w game. i havent spent a lot of money in the game itself and the only thing ive ever bought was a few pets. the game has many events in which if you played, you get many many free items like rebirth potions among other things. its very generous to its free to play members more so than a lot of games that have a free to play service. now about the "significant number of glaring technical issues" that you've ran into well ive never encountered any so i cant comment on that, in the 10 years ive played the only issue I have ever had with Mabinogi is the trade update in which the increased the difficulty of trade, which was years ago, but that hardly has anything to do with technical issues. I have never ran into any bugs or anything like that, maybe im just fortunate or something? Dunno.as for whales, well i havent paid for anything in mabi since the first few years i started playing, I may in august perhaps depending on how things go, but my money is set towards something else at the moment. The game does still have a few stream of steady flowing players moving into it, as the guild I am in which is rather large and active has new members all the time, who are indeed new players to the game as well, not all but a lot of them are. As far as bots go, I frequent ch1 which is the most populated channel at any one time usually, and the bots are hardly an issue as much as they used to be I see maybe one here or there and i just mute it, every now and again i may see two in dunby but thats about it.

anyways just my input on what ive seen in the game myself, I started playing on the nexon client through the website, and eventually switched to the steam client because i didnt feel the need to download the nexon client when i dont play any of the games on the client other than mabi anymore.
