Mabinogi is far from being as polished as Black Desert Online, but it does provide a much simplier version of it all.
Most games actively push you toward one thing regardless and nag you until you do, with Mabi, it's very discreet and not quite as overbearing. People like to be able to pick what they want to do (the trade off being, they cant always remember All that could be done, and sometime get bored while not having explored all the game's capacity).
All in all, it amounts to the same basis, some people like to be free to roam and do as they please, other prefer to be railroaded and be told where the interesting stuff (according to the devs) is. Mabi tends to people with the former interest.
