Ending Confusion (spoilers)

So I just finished the game and I'm very confused. I played to stage 255 and rested at every Birch tree and that plot makes sense to me. I couldn't figure out how to progress so I went back reread things. Eventually I solved the empty mural puzzle, went to DIS, killed Bee and Cif and so far everything mostly made sense. Then the weird bat thing that showed up during the Cif fight is revealed to be Lev, which sure, and the MC is Add I guess. Then we suddenly have a mech fight? A shmup segment?? And the MC is dancing with Lev in space???

I don't know it feels like a huge jump between Lily selling her soul and big mech fight in space. I get tech had been foreshadowed in the game but not to this extreme. What did I miss? I was really enjoying solving the puzzles of the game but the ending totally jumped the shark.

Did you ever get the ending after grabbing the B tile on the UI?

If not, you can get it by... grabbing the B tile on the UI in any room that allows it, and then running around until you hear a haunting, droning noise. Run to the source of the noise and when you find it, knock 6 times, wait 6 seconds, and interact. Make sure to do this as a human character.

This ending will give you a glimpse at something that was occurring at the same time as the finale. Think about what you see, and how it correlates to what you saw before.

That ending is a lot more about the Void Lords than Gray or Lillie, who are, kind of just there for the ride to some extent (but all the themes for each individual's story are mirrored all over the place). While Gray's playthrough gives you some somewhat vague and looming reference points to a "war" happening eons ago with the Void Lords, Lillie's playthrough has more things to speak to that give a bit more concrete info on them and their "war".

a bit more spoilery info:
A lot of it is chalked up to Lev being the Envy demon, and is envious of what the others seem to have from her perspective. She's essentially created this master plan over decades to try to finally get what she's looking for, which may well just be the fill the void she feels in her heart. This is where the Special Scene for Gray and Lillie differ. Lev isn't satisfied at all with Gray's fondest memory, of teaching Lily to dance. She's rather disappointed in fact. As Lillie, Lev loves the time spent in Lillie's favorite memory, but also understands that it isn't hers now. This is mostly just inference but I think it's safe to assume she figured out what fills that void in her heart and presumably just wants to go back to being with her siblings

An extra side note is that I did notice a nice little piece of mirroring with the images you receive at the end of Lillie's Playthrough and when you beat The True Last Boss in 0stRanger IF

if you haven't already read everything I said don't do it now, just go finish a normal, non-voided run with Gray (aka don't do the things you did for the shmup ending)
