OneShot will definitely go on sale for cheap during the upcoming sale, and Yume Nikki is free. Also play ZeroRanger, obviously.
Signalis is even more like Silent Hill but is largely linear, only the endings are unique.
There's a fair bit of secrets to be found as well, not just in the form of secret areas or items but the game will acknowledge if you do things like sequence break or use certain secret weapons on certain bosses, there's an easter egg for pretty much everything you can think of.
The way Iji plays is quite odd and unlike pretty much every other action platformer out there. You may find it to be offputting at first, but the gameplay surrounding the movement and combat is *very* meticulously designed to work well. I think it could technically even be thought of as an immersive sim of sorts, what with the RPG elements and how they can change how you progress through levels. It's been about a decade since I played last so my memory is fuzzy, sorry if what I'm saying sounds a bit vague.
Oh yeah, the soundtrack is really good too.

Animal Well is a Metroidvania with huge emphasis on out of the box puzzle solving.
You already mentioned Tunic which would definitely hit what youre looking for.
Noita is more of a straight forward roguelike with a lot of not very straight forward puzzles and hidden mechanics.
Outer Wilds is probably the purest knowledge rabbit hole game in that theres pretty much no traditional gameplay progression and its entirely knowledge based.
I havent played them myself but Return of the Obra Dinn, FEZ and The Witness get mentioned a lot.
It's hard to look for games like this wuthout spoiling yourself.
I know now that those games are often named "knowledge based-games". Most seem close to Void Stranger for the "going down the rabbit hole" feeling.
I started Tunic and as soon as the first gibberish text appeared I was 100% in !
Outter Wilds seems to be consensualy tagged as the best of this genre. Thanks for the recommandation I would never have looked at it otherwise.
Be cautious though, these games can be really damn criptic at times. (specially the first one)

I'm going to mention The Talos Principle, because it gave me a lot of similar feelings of "there's more to this world than meets the eye and I want to dig deep and find everything" and requires a lot of out-of-the-box thinking and "breaking" the game to be able to see all it has to offer. There's a sequel that came out recently but I haven't played it yet.
