Post-game questions

So uh, if you don't know what DIS or the DIS area is probably don't read the rest of this thread.

Cleared the game... like up to and including the shmup part (that was a fun surprise) and there's one puzzle I spoiled myself on that I'd like to know how the game expects you to solve:

How am I supposed to have known that to get to DIS I needed to kill Tail and Gor both, then go to B000? Like I knew how to kill tail thanks to the seal in the area you get to via Eus' brand, but I never really could find any other hints relating to that process. I've been to the area accessed by Cif's brand and felt like maybe something should have been there, but all I noticed was a chest like the one the staff is in, a bunch of statues, and a chest with a whopping 99 locusts (mmmmm yummy).

It just kind of bugs me that there wasn't a hint for that? I did the two murders and went to B000 and then some weird statue dissolves and I felt like I had no context for all that. There's gotta be something somewhere I missed by spoiling myself on the "solution" or else how did other people playing the game eventually figure it out?

My other question is who's the judge? Some sort of alien? A part of DIS? Some cameo from Zero Ranger? They seemed like a cool character but as far as I understand you only see them talking to Cif and then getting obliterated by Lev.

The inscription near the 200s refers to Cif's brand, which is already filled in, but the level is "forgotten" by the rock giving the hint. If you watch the level counter, you can notice that it skips 223 in normal gameplay. The 222 stairs take you to 224. Noticing this, you can travel to 223 using any means other than the stairs, and find a strong hint to "defeat what remains of the traitorous lords, then return to zero, zero, zero." Nice job skipping the most outright hint, but it does exist in the game.

As for the "judge", yes, you would have much more context on this character if you'd played and completed Zeroranger. You didn't specify whether further spoilers on that game would be warranted, and it's a good game, so I won't elaborate here.

ah, i did go to 223, but must have missed that hint while in there.

also i’ll be getting zero ranger soon anyway lol it looks pretty rad

Don't worry, you're far from the only person to miss 223, but it seems like a lot of people worked out the gist of what they needed to do from the statue (especially if they played Super Metroid or certain other metroidvanias). I didn't even realise 223 was being skipped over until seeing someone mention it outright.
