To the haters - seriously? Useless? Do you know -anything- about information security or programming or even how computers actually work? There are new threats constantly. Grow up or get out, please.
I feel like part of the older crowd that plays this game. I remember playing this game during its first year back when I first started high school. Now I'm an old college graduate. /:
Anyway, I've been playing without a hiccup for the past few days. Here's some fixes that might work for you.
• Go to your library, and right click Combat Arms. Select properties > local files > verify integrity of game cache. There may be some files missing from your game - this will fix that issue.
• Launch the game through the steamapps folder, instead of launching it from the library. The path is Computer > Local Disk > Program Files (x86 or x64) > Steam > SteamApps > Common > Combat Arms > calauncher.
• Delete the game from your library, and then re-install it. (Super basic fix.)
• Install the game directly from the Nexon website. Go to the Steam client, and then select the "Games" tab. Select "Add a non-Steam Game to my Library" and add the newly installed Combat Arms. Steam will act as a launcher, but it will have you sign in through the Combat Arms client itself instead of the splash log-in screen that is on the Steam client (which is where I understand a LOT of problems for Steam users are coming from.) Using this method, you should be able to keep the Steam overlay, but Combat Arms will not be managed by Steam.
Good luck.
These might be some useful tips here. Despite that you can play Combat Arms on Steam, this is kind of embarassing to me. I reinstalled the game like 8 times today, and I am still crashing randomly. I hope one of these fixes helps... just need to reinstall the game on Steam...
Also, reinstalling did not help either.
The last option did not work as well.
I'm not going to bother trying again. It's official. CA is going to be dead and not fixed by Nexon.
How did your game manage to work for some reason? You're one of those lucky people I'm guessing...
