The best Expertise is NO expertise. Beacuse Smithing will ALWAYS cost you more money than you make back on it. If you have NO OTHER Expertise, and still insist on taking one, go Armorsmithing. It has the most items in it for fabrication and you can grind away at it with less trouble than any other type of Smithing.
Weaponsmithing is defunct until you get to the 200+ level of Expertise in it. You will lose MASSIVE amounts of money in grinding away on it. Yeah, end game stuff is very expensive and makes good profit. But seriously, it takes masses of money to reach that point.
