Steam won't let me change my "login" name....
Topic. I can type a password, but it won't let me change my login.

I realize now why there are no characters on my account, because when I used to play in the past it was a different email (not same as steam).

BUT when I launch vindictus through steam, it forces the username to be same as steam username.....how can I fix this?

best bet it to just download the game through the website. Its the only way i know to get around this.

Yea, I just decided not to play. Beauty of steam is that there are always other options :D

Go to the folder where the game is installed.
(Mine was C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Vindictus\en-US)

Then run Vindictus.exe in the folder and it launches the game without steam asking you to login.

After you go to the initial menu in game (Start Game, Options, Quit), click Start Game, it asks you to input your account name and password.

Here you can freely input any account name and login.

Is this something that only needs to be done once, or would I need to run the game this way every time? And will the Steam overlay still work if I run the game this way?

You would have to run the game from outside Steam everytime with that method I believe. However, I know if you contact Nexon support, they can chnage your login email for you. I had to have this done, when my Steam account got hijacked (fell for a stupid look a like Steam promo site last summer), and I was scared of having my characters erased by scammer.
You will have to make a ticket, explain why you need to change the email, and possibly verify identification, (they will also probally make you make a new password as well) but with a little patience, this is how you get log in changed on the Steam log in.

I already created a whole new account and have a new email; It's stupid that Steam locks their copy of the launcher. Does the Steam Overlay still work when running the game directly rather than through the Steam main interface?

I imagine you could set the vindictus.exe file as a third-party (ie non-steam game) and run it that wya to get the overlay to work

Alternatively, I have a batch file I converted to an .exe that can be used to replace the crappy launcher and just runs vindictus normally. Send me a message and I'll happily send it your way.

Valve didn't make the game. They were paid to put it on the store.

Valve made the Steam login interface, though, and they're the ones that made it so you can't change the login email. If I download and install the regular version, it does not ahve that limitation.

Or you could just youknow... Go into "Steamapps" find the game.exe and add it as a non steam game and go from there...

Which defeats the purpose of the Vindictus steam community entirely.
