Help Choosing a Main, Returning player
Hi all, I've returned and I need help choosing a possible new main. I'm burnt out trying to lvl them up all to 100 lol
Furthest Raid I've unlocked on old main is nyle, then I started lvling up new chars, everything is new and fun to me.

I have some specific questions on these characters, please share your experience with me. The smallest thing can determine if I want to main the character or not.

New char Questions:
1. Delia : I got her to 90 and I watched a lot of youtube and did some research, so it seems she does need a lot of attack speed, but how much? With lvl 100 gear and free +13 I can get around 68-70 att speed no problem. Will this be enough for later bosses? Or am I forced to use the attack speed buff all times? The buff stays for 1:30 sec I believe, If I lvl it up, will I be able to use it more than once per raid? I use LL R's combo mostly in solo, just wondering in party raids, will i be able to use full LLLR's combo a lot more since the aggro isn't on me as much?

2. Danah: She's cool, and I'm attracted but I'm burnt out so she's only at lvl 9. I watched a lot of youtube of her, and I want to make sure if she's the chillax type I like before I commit, please describe her playstyle to me.

a) Is her style mostly just simple LLR's / LLLR's and then some additional mana smashes at the end of the combo? Focuses on Dodge/blocks when countering not available?

b) Is she forgiving in terms of defensive capabilities, such as iframe on dodging, blocking speed/duration, and ease of countering? Or is she difficult like arisha. I used to main arisha when she came out, and she was fun but definitely not chillax to play lol

She seems cool and chillax to play on youtube atleast, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

3.Lethor: She looks like the countering type, how is she compared to Fiona? I guess the most important part for me is the ease of countering and the forgiveness I guess. I have a fiona already so if lethor is the same, probably no point of maining her.

4. Tessa: What's her style like? She seems a bit hard to play, shes feeliks a bit like lynn with the mechanics right? But with a lot faster attacks?

5. Miri: I leveled her up to 100, it was a fun journey but I don't know if I wana main her. I tried some raids and the most difficult part for me is parry. Parrying against faster/chain attacks are quite difficult or in other words not as forgiving. Or is it normal to miss the parry because they are actually hard against some patterns, maybe it's better to just dodge and parry especially when there isn't 3+ stacks?

6. Fiona/ Scythe Evie ( old mains)
If there are no other chars that interest me enough, I will just play my old mains. But I still have some questions about the changes that were made to them when I was gone.

Fiona: So I noticed they changed the blocking into short blocks, which I won't be able to hold block anymore? So if there's a boss I'm fighting first time and i Just want to be safe and block everything to observe the pattern first, is there no way to do that anymore? Or hold block and spacebar? idk lol

Scythe evie: Is her snap mechanics the same or changed? They gave her the ability to dodge smash into LLLR LLLLR combo's which is nice.
I'm unclear about this but, you only have to press (E) for a pull once and it will boost all the debuffs you currently have right? So is it prefer to not pull at all until the last smash combo or should I pull whenever I have time as E does damage too or maybe just ignore it since it does too little damage?

If I remember correctly it used to be that the snap stacks up to 3 times for maximum damage. Is this still the same? So LLLR and LLLLR as main snap then a filler snap for 3 stacks with either LR or LLR but prefer LLR for the wisp sacrifice? I see youtubers try to get all 4 debuffs, just wondering if that's just a bonus but not necessary?

This is a lot of questions, thx for reading, hope I get some answers~

nyle?? LMFAO. the farthest i've gotten is barely even dullahan. if after hearing that you still consider what i have to say worth one iota, then i shall say a few things.

yeah pretty much, since roll has iframes now and block into roll is pretty safe. or you could even do block into parry into roll.

i think her counter has probably around the same window of active frames as fiona's block?
you're gonna have to explain to me wym by forgiveness. like... how forgiving she is if you mistime the counter? i'd say probably not very forgiving.
anyway lethor doesn't really remind me much of fiona like in the way she plays.. but idk maybe that's just me. personally i'd say she's more comparable to sword vella.

it's hard for me to think of tessa as hard to play. i feel like she was designed to be very simple and easy.
the marking and detonating the brand ig in concept is similar to lynn but in practice personally she's never reminded me of lynn. lynn takes a lot more effort to actually do the marking and detonating. like you have to go out of your way to mark and detonate w/ lynn if you will, w/ tessa it basically happens on it's own w/o you even giving it any thought lol.

also..

Thx for some of the answers. So tessa is easy and straightforward? On youtube shes like so fast and dashing around with markings lol. I thought it would be hard to maximize dmg on her since you have to do yellow markings or something. But all the dashing make me dizzy anyway so I think I'd stay away from her.
yeah definitely not hard. but alright then.

i avoided answering your questions about delia... because i really didn't want to be a silly baka and impose that i might know more than you or even that i ik anything about anything that i'm talking about, because for all ik i really could be talking out of my depths here about delia and endgame vindictus... but i just wanted to say that i feel delia is a momentum based character, using ion thrust defensively and intentionally whiffing the attacks that lead up to, in order to find openings for, her ehm... big windup attack lol.

Delia suffers greatly until you slowly build up her gear. She's a character that requires a great deal of investment to notice a any difference, even then she still has a tough time trying to outdps the main meta DPS. Which is like 8 characters.

That said, LLLR will earn you a "KEEN" buff which buffs her ATK SPD for 1min by 8 points and it restores stamina. LLL(small pause)R is still her most used spam skill, when does not have aggro. The trick tends to be moving away or using it as a side step and just drop it towards the boss. LLRR is alternatively the second combo you will spam even if the boss draws aggro on you.

Preferably you would want her ATK Spd at 78. Although if you are consistent with Keen, it shouldn't matter. As for Zenith, it is situational but the speed is massive. You can use it whenever, even if the Cooldowns are 8-9mins. She also has a tough time with survivability if you haven't mastered her "Hop" for mobility, proper block timing, dodge or do both block+dodge. Also she does more DPS with higher Vigor and the use of Ion Thrust is both an amazing gap closer, additional DPS after every end to a combo, counts as an iframe (kind of) and a flight mechanic to just go away.

The problem with Ion Thrust with a combo however is that it uses SP and Delia eats small chunks of SP all the time.

Comparatively, playing Danah's basic gameplay for Ls and Rs is like playing Lethor but with a sword and no straight counters when you do a successful. Her block does have one successful counter-hit but it has a 10 sec cooldown, its a range attack and you need to activate a skill and a smash to use it.

She is both dodge and block focused, similar to Delia since her block has a slow start-up compared to Lethor and she also isn't that mobile, so you also need to time her dodges. At a low investment her DPS isn't much but at a much higher investment, her DPS output gets crazy. She's not really a chill character at all. Although you will probably fare better on Danah than Delia.

I am unclear if she has more additional iframes since she is a character I am less familiar with.

Tessa is probably the easiest to play compared to Danah and Delia. She does really good dmg (even higher with more investment), more i-frames and very mobile. She has a catch.

She only has 1 skill to block and that has a 10 - 15 second cooldown, you really need to time your dodges well and you need to manage her gems properly for full effectiveness, her SP gain is subpar, she eats them in chunks, her skills have long CD and if you are not branding/detonating, her overall DPS will be useless. No counters and not stamina efficient. She also requires a lot of attack speed so you can brand and highlight the brand faster.

Aside from that, there may be more things I have missed but Tessa and Delia are my 2 most consistent characters I use. Aether summed Lethor to your question well and I honestly forgot how Scythe Evie works, even after I used her again.

Delia is kinda outdated and dont synergise well into lategame bosses (bosses hit too much without many openings aka s4). just a warning, she is fun tho. She got nerfed in SP gain and that gutted her even more.

only thing that could make her viable is 80-90 attack speed and the calm enchant on weapon too offset her weakness but that alone is heavy minmax(without sacrificing bal/crit cap) and pricey. + thats the reason many delia mains even top ones changed to another main.

Tessa/lethor are both pretty straightforwarded and easy with boss knowledge

For the most part, I do agree. Although she doesn't need Calm to be effectively viable since the Mysterious Cat Artifact is enough to sustain her. As for her viability in S4 Raids, she does surprisingly well since few of her attacks can ignore the stagger and she she can be part of the ultimate lock, effectively ignoring the blue bar if timed well.

I wouldn't say she is outdated, far from it. She is still good but she's just outclassed by others with easier DPS output at a lower cost investment and gameplay investment.

Although will admit. It is demotivating to invest in a Delia when my undergeared Tessa does overall better DPS by comparison.
at the end of the day i think it's about who you enjoy playing. i enjoy playing delia but tessa less so. there's too much emphasis on dps. i mean heck, i'm quitting the game because it's just gotten boring personally.
PooPooPanda Jun 9, 2022 @ 9:41am
Wow thanks for answering my questions in details guys.

So it seems delia isn't worth to invest since it would be a hard journey. I did have fun with her, I tried raiding with her and it does seem like she lacks attack speed. I was only able to do decent with the attack speed buff for 2 min. Maybe she's not for me

As for Tessa, ya I made a low lvl one and went to training to see for myself. She is straight forward but defintely not easy in fast fights~ Especially through your description she sounds pretty difficult to manage lol. My main reason is that she might be terrible for dungeon clearing, Def gona stay away from that since im so burnt out.

I lvled up my dannah a little more and I think I might not like enjoy it as much in the long run.

Didn't make a Lethor, I heard she got nerfed hard or something. I will stay with my fifi and sycthie for now I guess.

Still would like someone to answer me my scythe questions tho.
Thx

i don't think she's too terrible for crowd control. sure she doesn't excel at it but she's definitely no staff evie or kai.
anyway have you used the lvl 100 potion from the event, yet? if not i'd reckon that'd skip a lot of the dungeon clearing on whatever char you decide to go w/.

and about your questions regarding scythe.. the only thing i could do really is pass them along to the discord.
PooPooPanda Jun 9, 2022 @ 11:33pm
I'm sorry, whats a lvl 100 potion from the event? I am playing on a TW server btw since I moved to Asia now. We might have different event or item name who knows. There are scrolls that let me skip some missions and just non stop chat log, if thats what your referring to. Am I missing something juicy?

BTW there are no "Greater" versions of aritifact here, only this brown looking thing which is the same as the greater version of cat statue but everything else is the regular one. I was mind blown when I asked around, they were all like what are you talking about, no such thing lol

In the end I thought just get cat statue for my scythe since a 20 second paw might not be worth it.
oh then you probably don't have the event. but just in case i believe the event is called (here, at least) "Jumping Bean Vending Machine Event".

She actually wasn't nerfed that hard. To my knowledge, they only nerfed her counter dmg because the dmg is ridiculous. Even now the counter dmg is still strong and Lethor still remains as one of the Top DPS.
Fireclaymore Jun 13, 2022 @ 7:35pm
I'm a little late, but they made defensive change to Fiona and Staffie about a year ago. They don't let you hold amber and block anymore. When it comes to Fiona, she still has one of the best cheese in defensive play because of heavy stander. You can try to do the full set of starting with Parry into Block into Heavy Stander. There's a really small gap between the first two. For the most part you can just spam HS until you learn a moveset but doing all 3 together usually lets you stay close.

A fair number of bosses a little bit of punishing HS spam if you don't position correctly.

Lethor doesn't have a gap between her dodge into parry if want to play her. She's pretty chill and fairly mindless imo. I'd say her block timing is a smidge more generous than Fiona, but you can't save yourself from mistiming with HS like Fiona can.

I've heard Scythe Evie needs a lot of speed to feel good, but I imagine you can get away with snapping quick combos until then.

I can't speak for any others you listed, but to can also try surveying the character specific and question channels on the official discord we have for NA/EU
