Is this game a practical joke?
So, there I was--- casually perusing the Steam games when I happened upon an old classic from the mid 90s called "Galaxy on Fire 2TM Full HD"!

It looked like a splendid game with stunning graphics for such an oldie and.. what's this?? Voice acting?! My WORD! How did they ever fit all of that onto a few A: discs back then?? It's like Elite but...like..MORE Elite! Wow! And GUNS! You can shoot GUNS! And a space station?! And..and...you can buy things! And when you fly around you actually fly AROUND, like, 3D like! None of that silly business where you look down upon your ship and fire up the screen at a formation of drones but....

Okay, look... I'm laying on the sarcasm as hard as possible because somehow this game was actually being sold for actual money. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed but the ship moves so slow. I kept expecting a granny with a walker to float by. "Combat" is laughable because the dogfighting is more like watching fish lull around in a tank. I tried crashing into the space station but...no...that didn't help make the game more fun. I guess mining is the cool part because it presents the only challenge in the game. And...um...whatever. This game was released just a couple years ago but I would have pegged it for a couple decades instead.

Unless someone can tell me how to unlock "FUN MODE" then I'm just going to say that it's a pile of crap.

Anyone know how to "give away" a game on here? You can have my key. This game is garbage.

Like, Boba Fett garbage.

Wait, I take it back. That was some sweet garbage floating around with Boba Fett.

I would take your key :b
I like it, the version off of the Mac App Store anyways, that version has DLC.

first off its space...its freaking huge...it takes time to go places thats part of the chalange as you get farther and farther along in the game you have to deal with the distance under fire...and you played less than an hour of the game so you probably didnt get past the first few pieces of the story...though you should have realized at some point that you can buy better ships and upgrades. and if you're looking for a rediculous dogfight game go buy Ace Combat...it has that CoD feel you seem to desire.

Also understand this is a port of a game made for phones. Controls were meant gor gyroscope conhtrol not keyboard/mouse or controlers

Well, the real fun lies in the two unreleased DLCs which is available for iOS, Android and Mac.

Thanks folks for the replies. I was aggrevated by it because it just didn't feel appropriate to be released as a full game. Reviews for the awful Big Rigs kept coming to mind.

But, treeckosan, you put it in perspective: Somehow this game escaped the mobile world and tried to hack it on gaming machines...far below expectations.

I vaguely remember playing a game like this on those old, cruddy flip phones many years ago... Maybe that was the first one and this is the sequel? Sure would explain a lot.

I still don't want it.

This is HD remake of Galaxy on Fire 2.. The game is 6 years old and was created for old java devices. So what do you expect from this game? For me it was 1 of the best games on old mobiles and I am happy there is any HD version for PC.

That's what I'm hearing now. I looked it up and sure enough that "olderer" version is the one I played on a Samsung flip phone back in 2005. I believe I paid $3 for it.

Too bad the pricing didn't stay the same. $20? ...yeah...

I was made for iPad and it should stay on iPad.

Really? Because I quite enjoy the Mac App Store version, which I only paid 10$ for and has all the DLC, it has also been remastered in HD.

After paying and playing this on my Galaxy Tab, I can honestly say I thought about buying it for PC, then I watched a Bunch of youtube videos and reviews, waht have you, and decided they spruced up textures... WOW! No thanks. There are literally 10+ space sims better than this game, Star Citizen, X (like ANY "X" in the series), Evochron Mercenary, Dangerous, the list goes on and on you get the point. Anyone who bought this is a space sim casual gamer or the like, simply has HORRID taste in games, especially with the LOWER PRICED treasure trove of great space sims on PC.

Dude, there's nothing wrong with casual games regardless of being a hardcore gamer. THIS game just sucks azz and should have been free...just like all the really good FREE to play games.

well its not f2p so get over it...as everyone seems to fail to realize it was made for mobile and simply ported to pc because of its popularity...you simply want it to have been free because you didnt enjoy the game play.
