This game is like a love letter to PC-98 games, Mobile Suit Gundam, and classic point and click adventure games like Snatcher and Policenauts.

Long story short, I'm stoked and want to see more, especially possibly a shmup section where we actually get to pilot the mechs.

Totally agree. My first thought was that it resembled Snatcher. I've been looking for games in that style.
