demo feedback
Love:
- Visuals, music, tone, premise, setting, focus on the different operational roles of characters
- The EVA section.

Like:
- Multiple buttons forward the dialogue.
- It's really cool.

Neutral:
- I like the graphics, but, despite what the visual style of the key art would imply, they are of a monochromatic GameBoy style. I can't tell what it is inspired by, or aiming for. I don't know any influential monochromatic visual novels. It's confusing.
- It's neat to have an option of which graphic style to choose, but one looks more anime than the other, which is what the game is going for. The contrast is quite noticeable depending on the character. I feel like either the artist should be confident and stick with one, rather than leaving it up as an option, or they should make the quality consistent across both styles.
- I expected it to be more about robots than about being in a ship. I don't mind the latter, but it's not how the game comes across at a glance of the store page and title screen.
- Commas are inconsistently present, outside of dialogue. Some pauses in text don't have commas, while others do.
- I wasn't gonna mention it, but someone else did, and I must agree: the font. It is small, and on close inspection, the gaps between letters are inconsistent within words. Despite that, I can read it, but other people might not.

Dislike:
- Include a log. This is standard in many visual novel games.
- I feel like Dalton's shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers, appear slightly disproportionate, too big, in both styles.
- While I do recognize that setting the tone is important, and fun, I feel like some of the text outside of character dialog is way too verbose, and unrelated to this. Overexplained details of what the character is doing, to little forwarding of the story, or understanding.
- If I run the game on Integrated Graphics (Intel I5), it's slow. It shouldn't be, considering it's a visual novel that doesn't have any fancy shaders or 3D polygonal graphics. The function menu & map are particularly slow. I'm no longer playing the demo this way, but it is true, and other people might not have the privilege.
- Vanessa seems completely unconcerned for her own well-being when she keeps putting on a "gigantic ♥♥♥♥♥ act" throughout the later incident. It's a little hard to believe anyone - even someone who's strict or self-superior - would treat people they're urgently dependent on this badly.

I couldn't easily include all of this in the survey.

Hi, Nescius! Thank you for taking the time to provide extra feedback on Gun-Dog, it's really kind of you to share your additional thoughts and feelings outside the survey.

I'll try to address a few of your points.

- The monochrome visuals are based on old phosphorescent monitors which could only do one colour (usually green). If you've seen Alien or The Thing you'll have seen them on MU-TH-ER 6000 or on the chess machine that Macready plays against. Because we're going for that 80s effect we're visually paying homage to that hardware.
- Doujin mode/Studio mode are the result of Gun-Dog getting more successful than anticipated. Doujin mode is the original graphics whilst studio is the revised graphics after Gun-Dog got more attention. We left them in after some consideration because we wanted to acknowledge the original artist's efforts.
- There's much more giant robot action coming in the full version, so look forward to it!
- We're doing our best to find a solution to the small font. This is one of the biggest mistakes we've made in terms of user experience and we're doing our best to find a solution.

- When you mention a log, we've added the ability to scroll up to review text. If you're talking about a log of conversations / choices, we'll give it some thought!
- Dalton's oversized look is intended to be a result of an overly large uniform that doesn't quite fit him. We'll take another look to see if we can communicate this better.
- The graphics issue is something we've heard about and we think may be an issue with the engine. Gun-Dog should not be demanding at all so we'll also review this to see if it's a known issue with the engine.
- Finally, with regards to Vanessa, the best way I can explain it is by saying that she's based off some real life experiences. There are people out there who can't help getting in their own way!

Thanks again for taking the time to leave all this feedback. We really appreciate your enthusiasm and hope you'll be onboard for the full version!
