You guessed right that there won't be any gameplay segments with different mechanics dedicated to the armoured frames (no FPS or TPS segments, sadly) but since this game is our love letter to mecha anime they do play a large role.
I don't want to get too into that plot specifics due to spoilers but they do play a significant role in a few characters' backstories and they do feature prominently in sections of the main story.
If you are a mecha anime fan and enjoy the drama that's a big part of that genre then we hope there's plenty in Gun-Dog that you'll enjoy!
