Thief™ II: The Metal Age

Thief 2 is really good so far
Been playing through 2nd level. And this gives me that "Oddworld Abe's Oddysee" vibe to it of a gritty but very compelling game.

Thank god dinosaurs is not in this game. (atleast i hope so if they do i will be mad) but i heard they are only referenced but never seen which is fine by me!

Thief 2 is my favourite by far. All the freedom of 1 without the unbelievably "out there" stuff. Sure later down the line you basically get robots, but still more believable than friggin' zombies.

I agree with you there! Though i kinda wanna make a mod now, to replace all the Burricks in Thief 1 with Barney the Dinosaur. Or i am gonna look into it!

You want to create the very thing you've been complaining about ?

Yeah because then it would be intentionally funny.

I know how to change the sound file, in folder RES and snd file by using 7 zip file manager. Easy park there.

But changing model or graphic design, probably feel you need to be some legit good programming skills to do that which i dont have the skills in.

I don't know why you're classifying them as 'dinosaurs' - they look more bovine or
possibly rodentia. Many beasts release a gas or liquid defense. They're not unusual
or prehistoric, but very alike to similar modern earth species.

- But - When you dig into the thief history you discover that it doesn't even take place
on this planet, but one with it's own unique history - including natural evolution.

All very plausible given the scope and variety of the universe.

It takes me out of the game so doesnt really make much sense to me. I can accept zombies, but ancient dinosaurs in middle ages, not so much
thirdkeeper Nov 7, 2022 @ 9:46am
not ancient, not 'dinosaurs' (more like oversized rats) not 'middle ages' (a society that
has reached a certain level of development - still in flux)

Thief history is not the same as Earth history. - Although there are many many parallels.

What makes me chuckle though is that Zombies for some reason are 'OK' and actually
'more real' than Burriks. ??? ; ]

Clearly you havent played Oblivion. NOW THOSE ARE RATS.

But yeah the undead supernatural i feel more at ease than whimpering dinosaurs in Thief

I was immersed in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion for over a year - played every mission
and all the side missions - including The Knights Of The Nine. Ok, so Burricks are
more lizard. - What's the diff ?

- Should make a mod that has the zombies belching poison gas and whimpering. Prob
just a matter of swapping out all the Burrick models with zombies. Then you'd be more
at ease without having to see any "dinosaurs". One might suspect you have a 'Barney'
fixation. - That's ok, In Thief I happen to have a 'Benny' fixation. 8 )

haha thats funny. Benny : D

Speaking of. That was maybe one nitpick i had with Thief 3, the lizard thing was a tad bit off putting but it wasnt enough to ruin the game for me. So i let it pass. I guess other nitpick is i felt the hubworld could be better. When i play Mario 64, i know the hubworld is one of the best parts. In Thief 3, its a little cramped in, it doesnt feel fully explored. But it is a very fun enjoyable game of itself.

I think i gave it a 8/10 rating or something. I guess the minus thing i put was "random T posing, so only way to make it go away was to charge an arrow and take it away". basically.

Or here is my review of it actually.

But Thief 3 i usually just enjoy sneaking around. Its kinda like an adult version of Sly 1-3 in someway. Its just overall very fun to be in the shadows in that game. I think thats the best compliment

Thief three had one great mission. - The Asylum. - Crippled with no rope arrows and
having to replay the HUB over and over again to get anywhere. The game is a shadow
of it's former iterations.

It had some spooky themes... but then again i listened to music while going through that level. So maybe i wasnt so immersed as others were

Though i occasionally play Thief 3 on Expert difficulty. Its still fun to revisit in my view!
