Thief™ II: The Metal Age

Thief™ II: The Metal Age

Changing Garrett's character model
One tiny irrelevent thing that bugs me in Thief 2 is the way Garrett looks. In the cutscenes, he is protrayed with cloak covering his whole body. Obviously, the game isn' that advance so it couldn't render a cloak in game. However, what we got is a mismatch looking thief. His torso is dark purple, while his gloves are aqua-ish color, and his hood area is slightly darker than the torso. What's strange is that in The Dark Project, he had a different (and what i think, better) arms than the Metal Age. Basically, Im asking if any modders could make a texture swap for Garrett OR give me instructions on how to do it myself. I think he would look better if his outfit matched the other thief characters in the game.( Captain David's guards, the 2 thieves in Life of the Party, etc.) I have 0 expierence on modding and it would be really awesome if someone could do this.

These files can be opened as zip files. In the mesh.crf file, you can find his model (for 3rd person). As for the obj.crf, this is where you can find his two models that are used for the scouting orb POV. The txt16 folder will have Garrett's textures.

For the model in the mesh.crf, the file name is garrett.bin
(this is for if you want to see Garrett in 3rd person for things like making some conversations or scripting scenes like some FM authors like me do.)

As for his models in the obj.crf file, there are two different ones. The first one is garstd.bin (him standing), and the second one is garcrh.bin (him crouching).
But I'm guessing you just want to change his texture a bit. If that's the case, you can find it in the txt16 folder of both of the crf files. They will be labled as garrett.gif

Hope this all helps.

Do you have ODC? Seems weird to ask since you never see him besides when looking through the scouting orb (which, for myself at least, goes nigh unused) and even then you wouldn't spend much time looking at him, right?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

And maybe i do lol. Idk, i just dont like the way his arm looks if that make sense lol. If you recall in the Dark Project, his arm texture was different and fits his character. This is purely a comsmetic pet peeve of mine and it doesn't really harm anyone or the game. It's no different than those immersive mods you see for the elder scrolls
