How do you find diamonds?

I am on my first run on easy diff. But haven't been able to figure out where diamonds come from. (One quest had 2 as a reward but that's it)

There is a boon (daily bonus) that involves a meteor landing, which causes a handful of diamond rocks to spawn. A possible upgrade can cause you to yield diamond from harvesting or destroying resources. It's difficult to make use of either on a non-endless run.

looks like the blackmarket "ore drops when you harvest crops" and "ore drops when using axe" have a chance to drop diamonds. This seems like a pretty reliable way to get it on hard mode. I also watched a lets play where a daily fishing 'event' was you have a chance to get a treasure - that treasure chest had diamonds.

I'm playing on an endless run, roughly 32 weeks in to it. I can confirm that those black market upgrades you referred to do work well. Almost every time I harvest crops, I get a handful of diamonds.

Not sure if consumables change, but milk soup gives a chance to get a diamond (or other ore) for each plain rock harvested
