I'm one that looks at potential and developer commitment. The community seems to believe in this project and this gives me hope!
I love it when a community is welcoming and positive.
I got just under an hour of play time in yesterday and I can honestly say I'm digging it. As for the content updates. I'm of the mind anymore that it's ok to only get updates once a year (if we're lucky).
I've been sitting on STALKER2 for a year and a half waiting to play, and while the rest of the world gripes about the lack of release (or content updates in regards to EA games), I just tend to be optimistic about it.
If a game is in EA and has solid bones, I'd rather they only update once a year or so as long as it's a substantial leap towards 1.0. Now, if July rolls around and there isn't at least word from the devs in regars to progress I might be a bit more concerned. Lack of communication is probably the largest contributor to people hating EA titles; aside of the scams out there.
I'm sure this community could point us in the right direction for maybe a dev road map or something?
I really like how the animations and gunplay work in this game, it's more natural and far less "instantaneous" than other shooters out there. Prime example being the fact that the character engages safety on their weapon before swapping; this is a HUGE delay on contrast to say COD, Battlefield, and other fast paced shooters.
I can totally see how the kiddies out there will complain about this and claim it's not responsive enough; but it's obvious this was an intended functionality as it forces you to seriously calculate your situation and response to any given circumstance.
Where in other games one might hear them coming, jump out and start blasting; where as here you might highly consider falling back a few yards for better cover, maybe try to get a better angle on those closing in because you know if you don't nail it, you'll run out of ammo and likely die in the weapon swap if you don't plan appropriately.
This is something I've really been hoping for in a video game for a long time. I love the way the weapon sways when aiming down the sights and moving, also feels very natural.
I have a bunch of crap to do today and I'm already chomping at the bit to get back in and really get a solid feel for it; but so far this is really scratching that itch!
EDIT: I was just looking at the updates, they hotfix regularly. So while there may not have been any major content updates, the hotfixes clearly indicate they're ensuring the fundamentals are working properly. This is very good. As as solid foundation will enable them to build new features and functionalities with much less trouble. Seeing so many hotfix updates made me happy for sure!
Finally cheater and frustration free.
I am of the opinion that the future lies in COOP PVE without cheaters.
I still bought Incursion because I want to support the developers. I'll probably take a look for the first time tonight
