Depends on what you like. They are not the same.

Hi. I own and play both.
Both are incredibly different despite being under the same genre of extraction shooter.

I don't play Gray Zone PVP only PVE so my opinion is based on that which is more similar to this game since there is no PVE here either.

Personally i think both compliment one another. Incursion Red River offers much smaller compact maps. The hub is smaller and still feels under development. The store / contracts system is similar in both - but Gray Zone contracts feel like they have more scope and progression where Incursion you will very quickly be repeating the same missions with the same items in the same location over and over.

AI wise both work well for the maps. In this game you can customise the AI experience in the games settings (and further still with some .ini tweaks if you look around). I find the AI to be a decent challenge and keep me on my toes enough for each mission to feel tense and not guarantee me survival.

In Gray Zone the AI is pretty smart. They will suppress at where they last saw you while others flank. In both games a single shot to the head can take you out at times. Other times you get clipped and need to heal up.

Gray Zone offers a much more complex health system. You have a menu that shows you where you are wounded and what kind of wound and you need to then act accordingly with the appropriate dressing, tool or medicine. Some lower quality drugs have negative side effects so while they heal you they hinder your vision or perception. Incursion Red River is pretty basic. You use a bandage. That's it. I enjoy the complexity of Gray Zone's health system as it adds more immediacy to some injuries. Maybe you don't have what you need to properly heal. Now you have to go find it to survive or try to extract.

Talking of extraction. Gray zone has a helicopter extraction system that is shared between others in your map / faction. That means at time you have to wait for extraction. It's not just a timer. One time i was way out in the jungle with a load of nice gear but severly dehydrated and wounded and had to wait 19 miinutes for the next available chopper. This created a whole scenario where i found myself sneaking into a nearby village with heavy enemy presence to scavenge some supplies to survive.

Gray Zone for me is filled with these immergent scenarios that make so many sessions feel unique. One time i got on a chopper with a random stranger and ended up in a new area i had never visited. I followed him around and we got talking. He got shot and i helped to patch him up. With Incursion the extent of social interaction is some kid shooting you because they want your gear - there is a real issue with Team Killing and the devs should be aware and should just disable it but they haven't and it's harming the game.

That brings me to my final point.
The developers of Gray Zone are incredibly active in forums and on discord.
The developers of Incursion Red River are somewhat active and have shared info on upcoming maps, but but stuff like their failure to even acknowledge TK situation that is something harming the game and has a very quick and easy temporary solution has gone is frustrating and makes you aware that this really is a small and young team with less dev experience than the GrayZone devs who have investors with deep pockets and a huge team of very experienced industry veterans who are handling their coms incredible well.

Gray Zone has some tech / performance issues for some. It runs fine for me and all my friends. I suspect a large part of the issue is people not being comfortable with properly optimizig the in game settigs. Incursion Red River ran well for me right out of the box. Gray Zone looks incredible on Ultra with all the latest UE5 features and the gorgeous Lumen lighting for the GI etc. Incursion Red River looks fine but not on the same level as Gray Zone visually or in terms of detail / fidelity. If your machine isn't great (i.e. have you had trouble on any of the recent game releases this year) then maybe stay away from Gray Zone regardless as you will struggle.

Ultimately i enjoy and will continue to play both games.
They both scratch the same itch in a different way.
Incursion Red River allows me to do some focused and quick missions on a map that has become overly familiar while Gray Zone continues to offer me dynamic and immergent experiences that feel like a simple mission somewhere can suddenly escalate into a dramatic fight for survival.

I hope that helps.
Any questions i'll try to answer.

Thanks dude nice reading you.

both are bad unfinished games (with the potential to become something)
Grayzone has terrible performance, pathetic weapon variety(only like 5 guns total in game) - more fleshed out tasks/missions, different locations, at least some enemy variety.

Incursion has much better performance and more weapons, but only one map and no nemy variety, the tasks also repeat themselves all the time.
i played 2 missions in incursion and had the feeling i did all seen all

If you can afford it get both. If the devs keep at this game I can see it being a cracker, it has an awful lot of potential.
Gray Zone is likewise, I have had a lot of fun in both games whilst they are different in their own ways.

This is better. GZW almost destroyed my pc.

"Gray Zone" is attractive because of its vast map and many tasks, but the enemies are unreasonably strong and wall hacks are common. Which is better is up to your preference.
DeathEye 17 MAY 2024 a las 12:16
the vast map is an illusion cuz its completely empty and dead, you have different locations like in tarkov and the heliride is the loading screen.
Fluxcore CarL 17 MAY 2024 a las 17:00
well i have 170hours in grayzone, and only like 10 on incursion. lol. Grayzone is waaaay better
Siegfried 18 MAY 2024 a las 1:42
Gray Zone is much more in-depth and more complete.

The map and environment design is muchhhhhhh better, speaking from the experience of someone who lives close to the country where the game is suppose to take place in: Their villages and landmarks are super realistic.

However, it is also much more fidgety and much less forgiving than this game due to the complex health/damage model system and inventory system.

There's also no offline single player mode and you can't adjust bots difficulty level unlike this game.

Which is problematic because Greyzone AI are extremely strong at long range, and at close range the bug could screw you up (dumping entire 7.62 mag into an enemy doesn't kill them) due to how complex their damage model works and how buggy the game still is.

Best bet for Greyzone against these bots is if you have friends with you who can help support you or pick you up (you can be revived when downed sometimes), feels like the game is designed with that in mind.

In this game you can play completely solo.

There's also issue of no rental gear (like this game have) and how enemies seems to all use AK while you can start out with M4, which make ammo replenishment super tedious or required you to discard your gun for an AK.

I choose this game because map design and graphic can be improved, but game design direction and philosophy won't change.

I intend to buy Gray Zone in the future, but the main reason I went for Red River for now was because Gray Zone doesn't seem to have an offline singleplayer component and I don't want to rely on servers to enjoy PVE. Has this changed? or at least is there any news as regards the possibility of adding such a thing?

I am very new to extraction shooters and bought this before gray zone. I have 37 hours in gray zone and only a few in this. I cannot add much that hasn't already been said but the PvE alone (the only mode i've played in 37 hours) is just way more complete and fleshed out despite being only advertised as 20% final. I do have to revisit this but so far gray zone has really captured my attention. My gut feeling is that the developers are going to have to take some risks and work a bit overtime to try to gain some traction from that game. I am not saying that they cannot exist together but I do think they have disrupted the space and are bringing a level of ambition and initial quality that should raise the level of all competitors. Hopefully.
