And has a fraction of the content.
Additional content will take a long long time to come. Its a very small dev team going at a slow pace.
Look. I love both games. Both are great and both are good enough to stand on their own.
Why do gamers always have to put everything into an either or them vs us category. Two similar games that have a cross-over of player interest can exist at the same time. You don't have to try and create conflict out of that.
It's not that. The Gray Zone IS overpriced. It's an early access gun game with 2 variants of AR-15 and 2 variants of AK, riddled with errors.
I got IRR before I got GZW and it just always left me feeling disappointed b/c of how little there was to do. Granted I've only put four hours into IRR but that's because it had no staying power for me. I wanted to like it and it may be good in the future, but initial impression for me at least, GZW is a better game, performance aside.
GZW has:
- Larger map with more POI
- More weapon customization
- More quest variety and quality (it's not just "go plant these bombs/trackers")
- PvEvP for those who want it
yeah but grey zone also got released in a un playable state for most people, either you turn on DLSS and have a game that looks ok and has no input lag but you will be playing at 40 to 50FPS, OR you turn on FSR and frame generation and you get 70 to 80 FPS or more but the game looks so bad you cant see enemys from more than 100m away and the frame generation make you have input lag so when you move the mouse left or right the aiming is delayed by about 0.5 to 1 sec which makes the game basically unplayable, either way you choose DLSS or FSR both ways have a downside that ruins the game.
at least red river released their game in a very playable state, yes it needs more maps, more loot items, more guns ect... but the game is playable and enjoyable more content will come in the future and im looking forward to seeing it progress.
i have grey zopne aswell and im not even playing that game anymore until they optimize the game to run properly because at the moment for me and about 90% of the playerbase its not an enjoyable experiance to play the game at all, more content means nothing when the game wont even run properly and the servers are jittering and lagging.
so for now red river is by far the better game to play.
The game looks incredible for me. Not sure what settings you are using or what hardware setup you have but i play with FSR scaling set to quality outputting at 4K. No frame gen. Epic settings and it looks gorgeous. I spot enemies from miles away. No issues. Locked at 60fps and its butter smooth. Only hitches are when flying into a new area for the first time.
I love both games but now GZ is out i don't see the value in spending much time playing this. I only bought this game last week but already bored of what content there is and compared to the sheer scale of GZ as well as the enemy AI and mission variety - there really isn't any competition.
What this game will offer as an advantage is much quicker runs in specific maps.
the game doesnt just not run well for me on my PC, it runs badly for the majority of players, its the minority that are able to play the game and have the graphics looking good and no performance issues, you surely must see that greyzone is very badly optimized at the moment hence all the negative reviews it got, many people refunded the game because of how poorly it runs on PC's that should be able to run games like that easily, and its not just the performance that is bad its also the servers that are jittering and barely able to play, its just not a enjoyable experiance on greyzone at the moment, i will go back and try it again when they release updates that fix the performance issues, and fix the servers too
e.g. I run it worse with a 3070 than a friend of mine with a 1070 and an older CPU, all while I'm on the lowest settings with all tweaks enabled, I was able to play it on epic with DLSS when I first launched it and it varies in its performance with each launch. It also isn't helped by its slow progress while you can just bug out, loose your secure container and knife while also being unable to matchmake with your friends if it happens - the only fix being wiping your character and praying that it doesn't happen again, which puts it in a really, really bad spot all the other bugs aside (like not being able to loot your own character because you either dont see it upon return or cant access it) and other major issues that had been pointed out during the creator playtest last week.
It furthermore also doesn't help GZW that they just took the praises from creators about the fun bits and turned it into a trailer, putting the creators in a bad spot as well while each one told them to not release it in the state it is in and rather focus on fixing the biggest issue within the next 6-12 months to make it ready for an EA release.
Edit: Also I disagree with there not being a point to play Incursion - for starters Incursion offers team damage in its coop environment, which makes it 10x more fun with friends already, not to mention the allowance for modding, which already is a huge plus point for any game.
Both games can easily co-exist and are fun on their own, I however see Incursion be the better game on the long run simply due to the modding support alone, another thing would be the fact that Incursion doesn't rely on the devs keeping the servers up, you can play it either way.
