Reloading
Did I miss a setting somewhere? Every time I reload, be it a full mag or a totally empty one, it gets dropped on the ground. Is there not a tactical reload option over a speed reload?

you need at least 2 slots in your plate carrier/other storage on character to not have that happen, kinda dumb as your switching one mag for the other anyway.

TLDR: if inventory full you drop mags with regular reload

need enough space for the mag and for them to be in the same pocket, not just " two spaces" some mags are smaller some are larger. Some vests have odd pocket layouts too, say you mag is 2 tall and 1 wide, make sure thats the shape of the void in the vest AND that you can manually put a mag there. Best option is having 2-3 spare mags and 1 or 2 stacks of spare rounds to refill the mags when the fire fight is done, saves ALOT of space

Do they not auto rotate to fit a 1 tall 2 wide space on a tactical rig during a reload? Just trying to get all the information I can. And what about going into empty spaces in the backpack?

You reload in the middle of a firefight and you wanna put your empty mag into your backpack, that's on your back...?

I want to know if the game puts them there, yes. Considering the game gives you (currently) next to 0 information about it's mechanics outside of obvious hur dur here's how you move, here's how to shoot, it's a very valid question.

It was answered already... If you don't have a free space for mag on your vest it's gonna be dropped.
You can then pick it up from the ground and it will go to your backpack.

Not all spaces are connected, some are like this

X-XX-X
X-XX-X

but it almost looks like a 4x2 block

Its pretty dumb mechanic when you neen empty slots for empty mag. It's neither realistic nor tactical. Operators can first take out a new magazine, reload, and then place an empty magazine in the vacated slot.

And I hope that the developers will add the ability to swap things without moving or throwing them out of the backpack onto the ground. For now it is happening completely illogically: you don't need to throw away the painkiller for swap it to a pistol magazine on the belt - technically you can do it with one hand if you're so hung up on realism.

Dude...as someone who use to have to train this crap, no we had an empty "dump" pouch

What I do find dumb is not having triple mag pouches, meaning I can carry 12 mags at the gut belt region while then having radio pouch high left, 1-2 grenade pouches, pistol on right thigh, IFAC on left thigh, dump pouch low and left on vest...and that was just a standard interceptor vest, thing is you could put your pouches where ever you wanted, the molly system didnt care, just took time.

OH! I also wish I could take the "characters" aside and show them how to duct tape all the buckles and straps so we dont sound like a fresh recruit doing his first ruck.

but yes we do need a place to put the mag, if you are using double or triple mag pouches you dont want to mix partial, empty and full mags

If all else fails, just backup slightly and pick up the mag while in the middle of a reload. With enough practice, you would be able to do speed reloads without losing mags or being too distracted with picking them up.

I also find it odd that you can't place anything but pistol mags in the belt. I've seen videos of people running AR mags on there and in games like Ground Branch, you certainly can add non-handgun magazines to them. On top of that, used pistol mags are always placed on the vest and not back on the belt if you do retention reloads with sidearms regardless of any free space you leave.

you can place SCAR-H, sniper, and small shotgun mags in the belt
