NecroAge hires pack has been updated
the NecroAge hires pack[www.ttlg.com] has been updated - the new version resolves some texture problems in Cragscleft and adds a lot of T1/TG exclusive stuff, making it THE officially recommended pack to be used with a TFixed Thief install.

the latest TFix (1.21a at the moment) is NecroAge ready, just drop the NecroAge.crf archive into your root Thief folder.

I've never tried it. Is it more extensive than EP2 now?

yes. and while it's not completely true to the original (the style is darker), it looks great and plays very well with the TFixed maps. it's also quite light on the hardware, even a crummy intel gpu should run it fine as long as anti aliasing is off.
I'll definitely try it out. I was never a big fan of the HD texture pack, so this might be what i'm looking for.
Looks good. I never used any of the texture packs because they looked out of place, but not this one.

Couple of questions however. How do i make this work with Thief 2 with tafferpatcher installed? I can't understand the mod folder structure in the cam_mod file at all. In Thief Gold it works, however the weapon models/hands do not load. (TFix 1.21a, root folder) Only if i force them with uber_mod. I suppose this is on purpose? And when they load, the hand model looks weird.

I can also force the mod to load in T2, but fog, rain and the sky seems to be bugged or do not load at all. The hand sword model is also bugged. Is there any way i can use the old sword model in Thief 2 that came with tafferpatcher with the new hand texture?

I didn't fiddle with the mod_path, i just tried to add it prior/after the other mods. So it's exactly like it came in TFix and Tafferpatcher.

I can provide screenshots a bit later if that helps.

you have pretty much answered your own question - in TFix, the classic hand models are loaded, as the new ones look weird. the sword texture is updated though. but you could drop a screenshot just to be sure that nothing else weird is going on.

you will need to modify T2 cam_mod.ini for the pack to load, just modify your modpath like this:
mod_path NecroAge+XXX
XXX being whatever the original modpath was. drop the NecroAge into the T2 root folder and it should work.

I don't think so. It works as you described. Is there any way i can load the hand/blackjack/bow textures from Necro Age while keeping the sword model intact for both the inventory display and the actual model?

Also, the new sword texture looks weird. It has a black spot on lower side blade (on the TFix model). I do like it, but the black spot irks me.

And is there any way i can load the sword model from tafferpatcher instead of the new model in Thief 2? Basically, just like Tfix. If i do the above method, it forces the new sword model with the hand bug.

I do like the new sword model and the texture fits, but the hand looks really weird and there is no model for Constantine's Sword in T1. There is the inventory model that looks different, but not the in-game model.

I am making a clean install just to be sure, since i messed up a lot of the files and textures. I will post screenshots after i download the game again.

I've actually edited that black spot from the texture that's used by TFix - Necrobob would have to do the same with his texture.

as for the rest of the stuff, probably yes, but there would be a lot trial and error involved - you would just have to swap models and textures around until satisfied.

Constantine's Sword world model missing is definitely not a good sign, it should be there unless some resources got corrupted (TFix+NecroAge+orig missions). that clean reinstall is probably a good idea.

I can edit the textures myself, no problem with that and with the rest of the Thief Gold stuff.
But i can't for the life of me figure out how to use the old default tafferpatcher sword model in Thief 2 when i load Necro Age. Tfix obviously does it for me in T1 unless i force the load, then it loads the new sword.

This is Thief Gold with only Necro Age loaded, nothing else. Shouldn't the world model look exactly like the inventory model?

the last two pictures suggest you have deselected the AI meshes and EP1 when patching up. don't do that - basically, if you want things working as intended, just patch up with TFix, do not change the default mod setup, drop the NecroAge crf into the root folder and you are done. if you want to swap things around, you are free to, but results may vary.

to use the classic hand model in T2, try opening the NecroPack with 7zip, go Mesh, and rename ArmSw2.bin and ArmSw2.cal into something else. then go Mesh\Txt16, and rename swhand.png and SwHilt.png as well.

if that won't cut it, post your mod path from cam_mod.ini, I think it should be possible to set it in a way so that the classic model would overwrite the new model.
Alright, i fixed everything and learned a few things in the process.
The first two pictures were taken with only Necro Age loaded. I wanted to see the new weapon models, everything else was installed but not added to the mod path.

I also made Thief 2 load the default models without messing with the Necro Age file itself.

Are there any other weapon mesh packs/textures that i can use? I haven't found anything on the internet. I am sure someone made a few textures for the blade and hilts, as well as models.

Also, is there any benefit on using EP2 + Necro Age? Like missing texture overrides and such?

yes, that would explain the first two pictures - as mentioned, the (TFix) T2 hand meshes mod needs to be installed for things to look correct when NecroAge is loaded (there is a note in the description but not many people will actually read it, I reckon).

not aware of any other texture/mesh packs. NecroAge+EP2 should not conflict, but not sure whether there are any benefits - in theory, if a resource is missing from one pack, it will get loaded from the other, but didn't check specifically.
Yeah, i did read the installation notes for each file prior to installing Tfix. I was just curious about the new models, or rather lack of new models that came with Necro Age.

Then i won't bother with EP2. Necro Age may get updated, so i will just use that or the default textures which should function with most FMs. Thanks for your help.

It looks awesome and even better in 4096 x 2304 4K Vision. I wish I knew how to transfer these textures to Fallout 3.

Yeah.. maybe not all of them but a few. like the wood textures, some door textures & cave ones also. It would even be neat to be able to transfer the T2 sky to F3
