When I actually play them I always change my mind but from straight memory it's:
1. Lord Bafford's Manor: 10/10 (pure thievery, most immersive mission)
2. Break from Cragscleft Prison: 5/10 (too tedious and unghostable, not bad tho)
3. Down in the Bonehoard: 9/10 (Not much replayability though)
4. Assassin's: 7/10 (pretty immersive and straight thievery)
5. Thieve's Guild: 2/10 (too long and boring)
6. The Sword: 10/10 (blew my mind first playing it, spawned my love of Thief, bit glitchy tho)
7. The Haunted Cathedral: 9/10 (awesomeness ensues)
8. The Mage Towers: 10/10 (used to find this mission unbearable, now I love it lol)
9. The Lost City: 7/10 (pretty good but not much replayability)
10. Song of the Caverns: 6/10 (pretty good but not great)
11. Undercover: 5/10 (boarders on average, first time is pretty cool, but no replayability)
12. Return to the Cathedral: 9/10 (bit too long and not as scary as it should be but great overall)
13. Escape!: 1/10 (can't bear this mission, what a pain in the ass)
14. Strange Bedfellows: 3/10 (this isn't Thief, it's just annoying)
15. Into the Maw of Chaos: 6/10 (bit short but pretty cool overall)

My most replayed Thief game. Was going through the series again but wasn't interesting after Lost City for some reason, plus HD Mod isn't out for Thief 2 yet. Replayed this game four times. Only finished the other two once but love them almost equally.

:O Interesting list haha, quite the opposite to my ratings. I just started playing Thief 2

http://www.moddb.com/mods/thief-2-hd-texture-mod isn't this the HD mod?

Down into the bonehoard is really amazing on your 2nd playthrough.
Thieves guild is a blast to ironman through.

Ah, only played through it once. Maybe that's why I hated it.

Hey, I'm playing for the first time.
I love the atmosphere, exploration, lack of hand-holing, using the map and compass but I just had to use a walkthrough to finish 'Down in the Bonehoard'.
I'm really only interested in the main objetive but the level design is too weird and there were no indications that I was getting close to it, I spent hours walking in circles and dying. ^^
Are there are more missions like this in theis game?
What about T2 and 3? Heard they're more 'realistic'.

I've been enjoying T2 a lot more, not really played T3 but I heard it's the weaker out of the three of them. I feel like T2 is less to do with maps like Down In The Bonehoard and more focused on mansions, houses and overall interiors instead of underground caves.

Hey, you're not the only one to look up a walkthrough for the Bonehoard. ;)
Anyway, if you thought that Down in the Bonehoard was bad, prepare yourself for more of these types of levels. They're going to be frequent.

And yes, the sequels are in a more grounded, realistic setting. It has less out of the outlandish, weird stuff in it. But I think that's still a big part of the first game

1. Lord Bafford's Manor 8/10 - not very challenging but great otherwise
2. Break from Cragscleft Prison 4/10 - going through all the cellblocks is aggravating
3. Down in the Bonehoard 6/10 - very atmospheric level with many of the most memorable moments in the game but after you get past the exploration aspect it is a bit of just a huge level and nothing more
4. Assassins 9/10 - amazing
5. Thieve's Guild 7/10 - it's good but backtracking is pretty much a requirement and there's this oooone spot in the level where you absolutely cannot grab a piece of loot without being detected really
6. The Sword 10/10 - the legend never dies
7. The Haunted Cathedral 8/10 - another very exploratory mission and deeply ambient, I only wish I could go back to the 90s when I first played this mission at about 11 years old and be completely lost, confused, terrified, and yet mystified as I did then
8. The Mage Towers 8/10 - a huge level that to this day I am sure I haven't fully explored, there are some segments that unfortunately kind of nothing but pointless walking
9. The Lost City 7/10 - backtracking in this map is definitely a problem but it is filled with very interesting locales and imo the platforming in this level is actually some of the best
10. Song of the Caverns 9/10 - how anyone doesn't like this map is beyond me, my favorite maps are always the ones with a normal locale with many human-based enemies, and the opera house is awesome to pilfer
11. Undercover 5/10 - the disguise thing is a unique take on the gameplay within the game itself but I just don't feel it too much, and overall the level is pretty small with secrets that are just plain annoying to unlock
12. Return to the Cathedral 8/10 - imo the most atmospheric level in the game, all the build up to breaking into the place and finally when you do to realize how horrible it really is inside, but the feeling of being in a forbidden, dead place that no one has breached in years is very... haunting
13. Escape! 7/10 - very challenging mission, but it doesn't have anything particularly special about it that you haven't already seen
14. Strange Bedfellows 7/10 - the last mission that proves to be a real challenge, but not overall spectacular in it's design
15. Into the Maw of Chaos 5/10 - meh, this mission is incredibly linear and is mostly platforming than anything else, which is thief's weakest type of play, it's basically a walk from point a to point b mission with a particularly tricky bit of stealth at the very end
Mebber Sep 25, 2016 @ 6:15am
1. Lord Bafford's Manor 9/10 - Awesome introduction mission, really drags you into the game.
2. Break from Cragscleft Prison 8/10 - It's fun to work your way upwards, and as you travel through the different areas you also learn of the different themes that constitute the world of Thief: steampunk technology, middle age society, dark/spooky magic. As a second mission this is an excellent choice.
3. Down in the Bonehoard 7/10 - I like the undead missions, this one is no exception.
4. Assassins 8/10 -The whole idea is great, but the mansion itself isn't challenging enough.
5. Thieve's Guild 6/10 - I loved it the first time because the sewer layout is confusing, which made the mission quite challenging. But in subsequent playthroughs the mission felt more tedious than challenging, but it's still fun.
6. The Sword 10/10 - After playing Thief for 18 years i still get lost in the upper floors.
7. The Haunted Cathedral 9/10 - Very spooky and much to explore. Exactly what i like.
8. The Mage Towers 3/10 - I don't like this mission. The idea is nice, but the platforming in the elemental towers is just plain boring and too long.
9. The Lost City 6/10 - More Tomb Raider than Thief, which is fine by me. A little diversion.
10. Song of the Caverns 10/10 - A nice twist and a great main location. Classic but excellent 'mansion mission', which are the heart of the Thief games imo.
11. Undercover 5/10 - Very interesting on the first playthrough, but not so much if you're replaying it. Absurdly easy if you're not ghosting it.
12. Return to the Cathedral 10/10 - Extremely atmospheric.
13. Escape! 9/10 - Weird, confusing, menacing. In a good way. Sneaking around isn't that easy, which is a good thing.
14. Strange Bedfellows 4/10 - Level design is rather boring, as is everything else in this mission.
15. Into the Maw of Chaos 4/10 - Decent, but not the grand finale a game like this would deserve (the finale itself is actually pretty good, but the rest of the mission is lackluster).

I liked all the levels except: The Lost City, Escape!, Strange Bedfellows, and Into the Maw of Chaos.

Well that's not all of the levels is it, especially not when it only has 15.

They are not totaly bad but i would prefer thief without them i still think song and escape are far worse than tomb raider missions

Fair enough, and definitely agree with Escape!

About undercover being so small of a map: I think it has to be small because of how they tack on more to it later. They had to leave enough memory open to add all the rest of Strange Bedfellows to it later even with all of Undercover still being in place. With Escape!, they cut off constantine's mansion to make only a small subset of it present at the end, but with Strange Bedfellows, they had to leave all of Undercover in place in order to give you free reign to explore around and try to find where the Hammers went. That meant they had to design it knowing full well it's only going to be like half the total level it will be later.
