Won't play video intros?

I haven't had this happen before. It won't play any of the video sequences. How to fix please?

or buy on GOG, if you absolutely refuse to install 3rdparty patches (do note that GOG = TFix lite, but I guess if you don't have to patch it yourself then it's official).

Where are the directions for applying this patch? I'm probably stupid but when I click on it it opens up like 4 zip files and doesn't tell you which one to download or what to do to apply it. Can you give some instructions?

if you are talking about lite, you need to download the archive and extract it to your TG folder. overwrite when prompted.

No I clicked the TFix1.27 and four files show. Which do I select? Do I use all of them?

ah, right, you are still looking at the gdrive folder. TFix_1.27.exe is the full patcher, should be all most people need.

The TFix does not work for me. The movies still won't play.

Maybe delete the files, delete TGold, and download them again, maybe you got the wrong version.

I think I found the problem, though I can't really explain it. Someone suggested running the game as an administrator, which I apparently don't have the option to do with the desktop shortcut to the game, but if I go into the steamapps file where the game is stored and pick that file, I can right click, run as an administrator and the movies will play just fine. Weird.

It's too bad I can't use the shortcut for convenience's sake, but hey, small price to pay. Thanks for all the suggestions, I hope this helps anyone else having this issue.

I just watch the videos manually in the movies folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\thief_gold\MOVIES

you can also play the game on your computer, and watch the cutscenes on youtube on your phone. a piece of paper which tells you when to watch a cutscene would make it complete.

Which wouldn't be immersive at all. Thief deserve more.
