Jock Studio

Demo Reviews
I'm currently a supporter of Jock Studio on Kickstarter, and I eagerly await the full release of the game. My anticipation stems from the impressive demo, as it's the only material I have to gauge the project so far. There's a lot I appreciate about this game, and I have some thoughts to share, both compliments and constructive critiques.

Menu Design:

First and foremost, I'm enthralled by the menu design. It's sleek, attractive, and it resonates well with the game's theme. Bright colors and unique design elements create a stunning first impression, something I wish more visual novel games (VNG) would focus on. In many ways, the menu sets the tone for the entire experience.

Voice-Over:

The inclusion of voice-over is another aspect that I find appealing. Though it's not consistent throughout the demo, the presence of voice acting adds depth to the characters and story. I'm unsure if the intermittent voice-over is a deliberate design choice or a cost-saving measure, but I'd be thrilled to see it extended throughout the game. Reading can be a bit tedious for me, so voice-over significantly enhances my enjoyment of VNGs.

Art Quality:

On the subject of the game's art, I noticed some rough edges. While the main character looks immaculate, some supporting characters appear to have an "art over art" quality, which detracts from the overall aesthetic. Additionally, there are inconsistencies with lighting, such as in the first scene where friends walk into the room. I recognize that this might be due to the demo's nature, but I thought it worth pointing out.

Background Sound Effects:

One of my favorite features is the game's background sound effects. It's baffling why more VNGs don't employ this technique, as it adds immersion and ambiance. Whether it's the sound of football plays on the field or other atmospheric noises, these small details make the virtual world come alive.

Conclusion and Future Plans:

All in all, I love this VNG as it stands now, and it's one of the reasons I wanted to support it on Kickstarter. I plan to create a gameplay video of both the demo and the full game once it's released. Adhering to YouTube guidelines might be challenging, so I'll likely mark the video as 18+ to be on the safe side.

In closing, the demo has successfully piqued my interest, and I'm keenly looking forward to the full game. Jock Studio is doing something many VNGs have neglected, and that's refreshing. Here's to a successful launch and an engaging gaming experience!

Best,
