RaceRoom Racing Experience

Multiplayer
Hello Sector3,

Multiplayer is pretty dead, I think the main reason is the fact that you have to own all the content to join a session. So do something about that. Let's say I want to join a server and I don't have the track, everything falls to water. You content is top notch and driving feels great in this new update, but please do something about multiplayer. AI is good and probably better than most people online but still. I'm not saying your tracks aren't worth the price (top quality) but unless you want everyone to just run private session multiplayer will never come alive.

Hi Divisor, long time no see mate. You're right, you have to own the tracks in order to be able to use them in mp, but you don't have to own all cars, one car from the class(es) being used is sufficient to join.
With the model we're using right now I'm afraid there's no real alternative to having to own the tracks... Best way to deal with this is probably to look out for discounts on track packs or other packs/experiences that come with a lot of tracks, as there are right now.

What would you suggest how to handle this?

Well, it would be hard to find something fair both to user and developer. To be honest, I have no idea xD. I bought a new gpu and I have a G27 for a bit over 2 months and the game is fun, but I'm not really prepared to get the tracks unless I can get them all in a pack that's heavily discounted. You could always make it so people can till join even if they don't own the track, but they can't use it in singleplayer, not the fairest way I can think of but it's an alternative. Guys put out amazing cars and tracks, they reach top standard in handling sound and visuals but the bussiness model is still a bit "meh".

Yeah, can't really think of a way inside the current model to make this work without having to own the tracks, sadly. All packs are discounted right now, if one were to get DTM 2013 there'd be 9 additional tracks, also the european track pack ain't that bad a deal right now.

But it's not a sollution to the underlying problem and maybe we'll find a way to make it more... accessible. ;)

To make success in SimRacing Comunity raceroom have to be "league friendly".unfortunately it's not.
We can not even use our own skin .
Having the nacional and the internacional communities of simracers using raceroom in racing leagues is critical to the success of RaceRoom . Much of the success of the gtr series and race came from there.
In this model, however, even if we like the handling, the quality, and the sounds, and everything about the driving cars in raceroom, the truth is that I and my team-mates can barely took in RaceRoom , because we are always running in championships for which we have to practice.
One solution is to make RaceRoom more attractive to be used in simracing communities leagues.

I don't quite get what you mean by having to practice?
Custom liveries are an option many people would like to see, let's see if we can find a way to make this happen, but the release of dedicated servers should solve most other issues for private/league racing.

When I say that I mean practice : making laps and more laps on a track , making a setup for the championship race.
The races of the championships that we run , are usually once a week . So we have to "practice" on other days of the week.
Most of us have a job during the day so we only have a few hours at night to do this.

Because of that it is unappealing come to RaceRoom .
I think that if communities began to organize leagues in RaceRoom would be more people in multiplayer.

Maybe, one solution is sector 3 creat their own leagues for sim racing community.
they could do a prequalification to divide the driver based in the lap time to make the leagues more balanced.

Sorry if I'm a bit slow today, but I still don't get what it is that's preventing you from practicing on your own during the week. You can create your own servers now on which you can practice as much as like or just use the single player mode to practice and create a good car setup there, it will be used in mp as well.
Am I missing something?

I guess it's the lack of time. If you're going to compete in a league, that does gobble up all your available sim-racing time so you don't have any left to play other games. If R3E is going to gain popularity with leagues it does need to offer all the things those leagues' players feel they need, otherwise people aren't going to even try it.

I think dedicated servers is the most important step - custom liveries are next, but not (IMO) essential. Hopefully when the dust settles after yesterday's update some leagues will start up and folks will get to see how good R3E can be :)

Yes you are my friend xD.

If the league we are racing is in a different racing simulator that RaceRoom , we will not practice in RaceRoom right?

RaceRoom it's the next generation sim that i like most but, in my situation, and a lot of people that i know that are always doing racing leagues, if there is no racing league in RaceRoom, we don't use RaceRoom simply because we don't have time tu use in it ( we have to use that time to prepare the race of the leagues in other games).

That's what im trying to say.

I don't have much practice in English so i'm a little bit rusty. Sorry

No problemo, but as we've mentioned the dedicated servers app has been released so your community/league can run their own servers now if you wish to.
We'd surely like that and are encouraging everybody to give it a try...once the current issues have been resolved. ;)
Cosworth27 Jun 3, 2015 @ 4:45am
I also think that with de dedicated servers tool there will be leagues in RaceRoom soon. I really think that is the boost this simulator needs.
Anyway, i think Sector 3 making their own leagues is a very good idea. =)

I actually don't know about leagues arranged by Sector3/Raceroom...there might be plans for this. There already are the competitions that grant prizes so mp competitions of some sort would be a logical conclusion for me. Especially as we've got real ADAC and WTCC drivers using this sim, would be lovely to have mp competitions where you can race the pros and earn some prizes maybe...
We'll see.

REVS Simracing is hoping to run a league but we need to sort out what cars and tracks to run, and then convince people to purchase that content. One thing I would be really happy to see is a way to see session results in a log file somewhere on the dedicated server frontend.

I'd also like all the bugs and crashes to be fixed as well.
Error 503 and 500 yesterday, and todat intermitten error 13 trying to see the server list.
