DRIFT MODE: Why did I bother writing this, what a way to kill the spirit guys.........
If I could delete the thread I would. I put alot of time in to writting, but it dont matter.

I have been playing this game since 09 and I still cant at the very least have the handbrake enabled in single player mode, other than hill climb.

REPOST:
Drift mode ideally would be a mode that measures Total drift distance a match, along with a few other things. Players are rated on total slide distance, as well longest single slide and steepest angles. A simple formula would be how the points are rated. Length of slide, multiplied by angle in degrees, times speed equals points. Penalty points, score lost for that drift or equation stops when you go off track or spin out. I think best way to introduce this would be in single player first, and go from there. Eventually It would cool if it was a challenge to out score others on a leader board, then later add drift to multiplayer.

SLIDE X ANGLE X SPEED = POINTS.
TOTAL POINTS AT END OF RACE X PLACE IN RACE= TOTAL SCORE.
By place in race say there are 4 people 1 would get 4x and 4th would get 1x.
1st=x4
2nd=x3
3rd=x2
4th=x1

It is worth considering. You guys got the physics for this. This is my main pitch, but I know this could take over a year to implement depending the aproach. I would gladly buy any specific cars made for this mode later on. Its another sales angle.

In the mean time you could do below just because you can. I am a Long time supporter of this game. I will eventually own all the content. I own about 70% of it now.

This is the easy way. 2 things need to be done to make this work.

Wow what a way to kill the spirit. I took several hours to write this up. You guys do know drifting is a real thing, right.

No and absolutly NO! This are race cars they rarly have anything remotly working as a handbrake you are after and if drifting around in single player is a goal of yours you do noot need a handbrake to drift. If you know how to drive that is, not saying you can't.
But just a pointer have a look at this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pyMfSJQkwo

try assetto corsa for sure you would love drift in the green hell

R3E is not perhaps the best choice for drifting platform. It is all about GT car racing with modern and vintage cars. And what R3E does, it is damn good at that. Drifting doesn't fit to that category that well IMO and would perhaps require quite a lot physics engine rewriting to do it properly, or then some stupid "drifting physics" for those kind of events, like we have in some arcade racers. AC does drifting well, I've heard. I haven't tried it in AC, as I'm not interested in drifting: I like to go tracks as fast as I can, whether it is oval (in good old NR2003) or road track in R3E, pC or equivalent :)

Let's just keep R3E as it is, a GT racer.

There's plenty of options out there for someone that wants what you want.
Get rFactor or DiRT: Rally or something. Stop trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.

I put forward an request for that. While it won't happen in the next weeks, it will be considered. Best I can do for you right now.

Now that the API bits have been published: https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/shared-memory-api.1525/ , maybe someone will come along and create an unofficial/external add-on which does what you are looking for (the point system you were talking about), I think it would be possible, seeing that
"Data about the car, such as gear, RPM, speed, DRS, etc.
Data about the race, such as position, lap times, etc.
High-precision data about the player, such as physical position/rotation, G-forces on the driver, etc."
are available for programmers.

No game atm feels as good as this one does when it comes to traction loss and steering wheel slip

Rfactor is one of the worst sims out there in my opinion.

I wasn't asking to change it, I was asking for a new mode to be considered.

This game has best drift physics. I can drift as is, but sometimes you need handbrake to correct your self.

I wish I knew how to code. And techincally I dont even need a point system, if as long as the slide time is measured that would still be something to try to beat each time.

I really think this game has the best physics at the moment for drifting. I mainly use the e30. I have 3 e36s in real life I drift when I can. One is my daily driver. the other a track car, and one a parts car.

This game feels very close to my cars in real life when it comes to drifting. I kinda suck, but I have fun, and what I do in this game helps me do it better in real life. Some games have great physics, but they all lack the feel when it comes to sliiding. Over all I am a better racer than drifter, but drifting is so much fun.
