QUESTIONS ABOUT MULTIPLAYER
QUESTIONS ABOUT MULTIPLAYER

Hi
New to RaceRoom and have questions about “Multiplayer. When I go to multiplayer in game I get a server list. Most servers show a ping of “-ms” and the very few that do show a ping are usually 150 and higher. If I click on a server then it takes almost a minute for any change to take effect.

My internet speeds at last check – Ping = 31 / Download = 2.04 Mbps / Upload = 2.84 Mbps. I thought this was a pretty decent internet speed but I may be wrong.

My computer is built for gaming, well, what I could afford anyway.
CPU = AMD FX-8370 Eight-Core Processor @ 4000 Mhz
RAM = 32 GB

So, is it me? Or is it RaceRoom? Any suggestions about what I need to do to fix this situation?

If I can not race online in multiplayer then there is no reason for me to continue with RaceRoom.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Is the official forum.

High server pings depends of where you live.

My ping is usually 2 Ms with 100/100 Mbps fiberglass.
That's a decent speed

Thanks for your response. Been reading and reading and searching and basically finding people having problems but no solutions. Also sent a private request to the devs but no response yet. "depends where you live", I'm in central Texas and used to race online years ago with no problems and had slower internet and computer back then. ......but I'll keep searching for an answer............

it depends on where you live and where the one hosting the server lives. For instance in host server from the Netherlands, so when your in Texas your ping will be higher than if you played on a USA bassed server. Your welcome to join my server anytime..its called SpaldingGT.

Oh and....seems like allot of the server in the list arent working anymore since the last update. A few still work fine and mine does to.

Goodluck , hope to see you on track

well some voodoo can be done in the registry settings , different algorithms settings for packet traffic but its a long shot and a bit "dangerous".

@ KlapZool - I have not connected well enough to locate your server but will keep trying........disabling antivirus and firewall does not help......I get kicked out with "Error 1...there was a problem"

@ bozont_svk - I do not like messing with the registry settings, but have in the past when needed. Any links to information? Maybe I can learn something.....

Hoping to hear back from the devs.......wondering if they are still working on multiplayer? Or hoping they can tell me what I need to check on my own system. Very frustrating, RaceRoom seems like it has great potential. I used to race online with rFactor and GTR2 and am thinking it may be time to install them again. I believe I also have Race07 thru steam and may need to install on this system to try. I used to race on "Race2Play" years ago and seems I feel "the need for speed" again.....the simulated version lol.

well i try to find something. i was fiddling around the registry for that in days when cod4 was popular and the title or website itself was from times of Cod2 :D:D the main thing was not to wait until the packet gets full just send it as it comes.

for example: https://www.ghacks.net/2012/09/10/reduce-gaming-latency-ping-in-windows/

https://www.speedguide.net/articles/gaming-tweaks-5812

not sure if it works with W7/10 , but it should...i see it was updated in 2017

heh went straight to favorites....

Thanks very much! That is a lot of info but looks to be very useful. Time to backup my registry and go to work. If I discover anything that helps my problem over the next few days I will report back in case it will help anyone else.

FINALLY!! With the last update my multiplayer is starting to work like it’s supposed to! (not quite there yet but close) Which just confirms the problem is not on my end…… YOU DEVS KEEP IT UP AND I MIGHT START SPENDING SOME MONEY ON THESE SALES THIS HOLIDAY :)
