The driving itself i like more now. and works great in vr
At first i wasn't happy either , but after some adjusting and finetuning im very happy with the feeling.
I can post my settings if anybody is interested.
Damage system works just fine. If your steering wheels shakes after a hit its more than just a slight touch m8. A slight touch of the wall gives minor suspension damage.
instead of actually reading and following the new instructions...
1) it was said: "make a new controller profile using one of the presets." If you have done this you should be good.
2) "due to big changes to the physics your old car setups won't work properly anymore".. and yet here are people crying that their setups don't work. Did you really think major physics changes won't affect your setups that were made for old physics?.. not seriously...
So make a new controller profile using a preset, leave the settings ALONE except "Steering Force Intensity" (<--- that's what you use for overall strength). Go on the track, make sure no old setup is loaded for the car, reset the FFB multiplier setting in the setup menu and drive. Now make little tweaks like vertical force or lateral load. Steering rack is not recommended to put over 50%, it can give some weird feelings.
Minimum force for Direct Drive wheels to 0 (ZERO) .. this setting is meant for bealt or gear driven wheels that usually have a deadzone around the center so that it cannot present you the low forces. Setting minimum force up will AMPLIFY low forces to a degree that the wheel overcomes the deadzone (with my old T300 I had it around 5%, Logitech wheels need much more.. like 12%). Use the ingame FFB meter to finetune the setting, you can also monitor clipping and adjust FFB or multipliers accordingly.
Direct Drive Wheels have no deadzone so leave it at zero or you will lose dynamic range.
Make Sure "Slip Effect, Engine Vibrations, Kerb Vibrations, Shift Effect, Collision Effect" are all set to 0. These are canned effects and shouldn't be neccessary with the new physics driven FFB. Or at least only use small doses if you need a bit stronger kerbs. For Direct Drive I recommend setting them all to 0.
If you have strange things going on check if "Inverted FFB" is toggled on or off. Change it to on/off and test again. I usually always had it set to "off".. with my T300 and with Simucube.
But then again you could just go to AC and enjoy the canned effects there. But I prefer physics driven FFB. Maybe it's now to simulate-ish for some of you guys.
...jesus christ...
Lot of people just complaining that they EVEN if they do all that having a FFB what dosn´t feel the way they used to or they like.
If it would just feel like my streetcar i wouldnt complain. But i can feel over and understeer much better in my car wheel then in game.
And since the wheel is the only way i can get information about my car in game the missing feedback is what i complain!
Starts a post with the point of people complaining....by complaining themself.
I would classify this as good humour.
it's not the complaining itself, it's just how they complain... like a toddler that doesn't get his toy or so. complaining itself is ok. And maybe 90% was exaggerated, I only worked 1 and a half sides of comments ;)
it should work out of the box if you really follow these instructions unless you have an OSW still running on MMOS. Which wheel are you using?
The problem is that people want the FFB that they're used to, but if we always stick to what we know or like we will never make progress. That we are used to a certain FFB doesn't mean it's correct or the new FFB is a mess. It actually is way more realistic than the FFB before.
And you're always free to tweak the settings to your likings (lateral force...) but it shouldn't be neccessary.
Also: your street car is not a race car, it is different, it has softer dampers and springs, usually no anti-roll-bar, different suspension geometry etc... all this emphasizes the oversteer and understeer sensation in the wheel, so you can't compare them.
Its all good, just made me laugh.
Also i would like to point out that you were informative to those that did not know how to carry out the new steps instructed by RRE
Yes, you can say that it is more realistic if you remove any force that does not come straight from the steering wheel. But that means the average player has less information which makes it harder and less fun to drive. Just like you could also say "remove all HUD and bloody screen effects from first person shooters because you don't have those in real life either", but that would also make it harder to play.
In my opinion it would be the best if there was a setting to toggle between "realistic ffb" and "classic/additional effects ffb" so that everybody can pick the setting they like best. Just like there is already the option to for example turn on ABS/TC even if the car you're driving does not have those in real life. I personally always leave that setting in factory mode, but I can fully understand if other people have more fun with driving aids enabled.
