RaceRoom Racing Experience

RaceRoom Racing Experience

R3E Is way too expensive
You can argue all you want about it, but here in Australia the game is way too expensive for what you get from the game. In USD, absolutely everything costs in total $111, of course discounting because of the premium pack

But converting to AUD, I am practically cutting my money in half putting it through steam, and essentially making my full experience for Raceroom cost over $150, and compared to other racing sims that cost near $70, this is just a blatant cash grab and doesn't deserve my wallet.

$7 for a car and $10 for 1 track is absurd.
EA please fix

I don't think you read a word I said.
If I were to pay with Euros, it will still take the amount from my AUD wallet, converted to the euro amount, which keep in mind $1 in the US is 1.4 australian dollars, and 1 Euro is 1.6 dollars!
If I were to get the 10000 vrp (including discount) Im still crucifying my wallet and pouring out $105.

Would be nice if SimBin brought back the F2P competitions that gave Vrp to winning players and random players.
Not sure what happened there, but there were F2P Vrp competitions in 2015.

ive read and understand it , but that is not the games fault , as you sayed other sim coast arround 70$ , this one coast 74.39$ , so to fit it to you and that what you would like to be happy , R3E should be 20 or 25€ , this will not happen.

Other sims are without DLC maybe that price , R3E coast 65€ or 74.39$ with all content.

This is not Sector3 Studios fail and there is nothing to blame on them. the price is simply normall as all other . Events are still running where you can win vrps , or even reall racing equipment.

I fully understand you , imagine only how expensive this 65€ is for my country , when you work the whole month for 200€ payout.. 65€ is 126.75BAM

For example pcars with all DLC is 82€ what is 159.90 BAM in my country. but its still 82€

I understand completely. Canada is in a very similar situation. You either pay in USD or Euro, and both are terrible for us. Even when going the extra mile and getting VRP, we then have to pay a little extra for Paypal currency exchange fees or credit card currency rates which add to it.

Unfortunately, they are deaf to it., RaceRoom Entertainment or Sector 3 don't care, because if they did, it would've been changed already. Be thankful if you are a newcomer and even have the opportunity to get the whole game for $120 dollars (which is far too much )....The long time players purchased most of their content before the "premium pack" was even available, and with all the extra cars and tracks, we are forced to pay full price if we want any of them. Might be lucky to catch a periodic sale.

They must have done the math and figured it's better to overcharge and kick the long term players and supporters in the teeth instead of rewarding loyalty, and just keep things the way they are in hopes that the new players make up the difference. It's weird, because I got tired of this crap a year ago or so, and just recently I figured I would support them again because of some work being done in a couple of areas (I certainly don't need to, as I have moved on to other sims) so I figured I would complete a couple of classes I purchased packs for, and WOW...They still want me to pay full price per car.

Too bad really, but they must figure it's worth the backlash. So I will just play with what I have already once in awhile and keep my wallet closed. Guess I will go back to lashing out and voicing my disappointment towards the game, as they don't deserve anything else imo.

They don't seem to be interested in building a new game anyways. But maybe UE4 will be added when they finish with another project (That's another story in itself lol) That said, it's too bad, because they have some good developers on staff, but it appears the powers that be just want to milk it for all it's worth while insulting the early supporters of the game.

I could go into other aspects and comparisons, but most simmers already know the deal. Unfortunately, a lot of young players getting into this genre don't know.

The simple fact is, you can purchase AMS, AC, RF2 combined for less than what R3E with its content goes for. And those simulators are moddable, offer more features, and have better tyre models....It's just crazy lol.

*Oh, AND you can play offline if you want to with those titles...No internet? No problem.

Finally! someone that won't blindly defend SimBin.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game. Its generally fun to play, but paying money for this game is ridiculous. Like you mentioned with PayPal and the other payment methods that are forced to you (and include taxes) makes that $111 price tag suddenly increase.
R3E fans can actively say "Just buy the VRP itself instead, and dont use Steam", but Steam is the quickest method out there and doesn't include tax, rather just converts your currency to USD or Euro. Vrp may cost less than paying with your steam wallet, but Paypal and Masterpass are genuinly a pain in the arse to setup (I ran into problems, Paypal didnt even let me finish the transaction even though im 18)

Going back to 2015 in R3E, there were competitions available for the Free To Play user, that included 500Vrp rewards, and its not present anymore.
If they added that back I'm sure it will ease the frustration to living in countries that dont use USD or Euros, added tax from Paypal, the list goes on.
Sure the 500Vrp reward works the same way as today (Division 1, 1st place gets 500, random draw for everyone else)
But, of course it makes sense that R3E removed this, only to bring back F2P competitions with no reward what-so-ever so they can milk the Premium competitions, as the new users purchase a track and car for a microscopic chance of profitting slightly.

At this rate I hope the reviews go from Mixed to Mostly negative, as Simbin is only using this game for money, until they have a new game released. Only another reason for R3E to f##k everyone over and pull the Gran Turismo card (shut off the servers of previous games to sell the new ones)

Yup, I remember those competitions.....Didn't amount to much, but at least it was something for some.

Also, not sure if your just mistaken, but R3E is Sector 3, not Simbin. Sector 3 just took over the game from Simbin and Simbin basically became SMS (Pcars franchise). However, the CEO of Sector 3 just took over for his brother and is the CEO of newly formed "Simbin UK".

The idea is to use the old Simbin name (and call it "Simbin UK") and make a sucessor to GTR 2 called GTR 3....Unfortunately, it didn't go the way people were expecting:steammocking:

Yeah, I've seen a large quantity of people on the forum referencing Simbin, rather than Sector 3. My mistake for falling for it

Regardless of the typo/mistake, I still stand by the fact that Sector 3 is using R3E as a blatant cash grab, and the people that go out of their way to defend this mixed bag, can't keep saying "If you don't like it, don't play it". just look at what happened to BF5.
At this point its just wasted potential for a game that could've rivalled PC2, AC and Automobilista and potentially even the Codemaster titles.
Its clear that the devs are really pushing it with R3E, especially with the VR support they added, even though the games engine wasnt designed with VR compatability inmind.
Its just a shame that all of the great effort the devs have shown are muffled out with overpriced microtransactions that outweigh the content provided.

Then again, I've come across different accounts of what really happened with the takeover of RaceRoom Experience....

This one is interesting and the CEO being quoted as saying:
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-09-11-simbin-declares-bankruptcy-and-reforms-as-sector-3-studios

The comments below the article make an interesting point and somewhat aligns with how things are being managed etc.

*It appears Mr Speed (CEO of Sector 3 and Simbin UK) talked to the website "Giant Bomb" and had the "company wiki" info changed to Simbin UK,

https://www.giantbomb.com/simbin-studios-uk-ltd/3010-14105/

But here is what the original "Simbin Studios AB were responsible for (not Mr Speed)

I don’t find it expensive at all. I just buy the content I know I’ll use. I bought PC2 and I only use say 3 or 4 cars and 5 race tracks. That cost me $60...
MakeMeLaugh Oct 9, 2018 @ 7:27pm
This game is indeed extremely expensive, which is a shame. I just got my first wheel, so now I've been trying a lot of different racing games and I must say, I really liked this one, the FFB and the sounds are great. But the pack with everything costs an absurd, even single cars/tracks are absurd. Just to put in perspective, the full pack is R$469(Brazilian currency) which is HALF what someone at minimum wage makes a month(R$900~1000). Seriously, I got ACC for R$47... 1/10 of this game.

A shame, really, cause I'm not paying that absurd price for the whole pack or single items and I imagine that's the same for A LOT of people.

Wow, never thought $7-10 was so disposable for single cars and tracks. Sure, you might only want to use 3 cars and 5 tracks, but purchasing 6 tracks individually adds up to the cost of a COMPLETED sim. With Less content, online only gameplay and and piss poor microtransactions

Never paid $7-10 for single cars and tracks. Last car I bought cost me 0.34 cents and last track cost me $3.46.

Purchased the 2016 DTM pack for $7.75 and the entire 2017 WTCC pack for $9.

Check out http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/dtm-2016 for a perfect example.

I buy the content through the game...NOT Steam.
