Virtual Reality
The menus of RaceRoom are rendered in VR as a static screen inside of a black environment. Depending on your seating / standing VR position, you might experience cases where the game window actually is above, behind or under you.

We therefore recommend that you should start the game on a flat monitor first, set it up to use a safe 1920x1080 resolution and go through some key bindings that are specific to VR.
Those bindings are:
- VR Reset Position - Once the game is started and you are facing forward, press this key and it will bring the menu window right in front of you (if it's not already).
- VR Toggle Monitor View - This will render a copy of your left eye picture on your flat monitor. While in the menus, they will be fullscreen on that view, making it convenient to browse menus without having to look through the headset. Also useful for streaming, recording videos, or just giving people around you a view of your experience.

- VR Increase World Scale - Increases the separation of the eyepoints to make you feel bigger
- VR Reduce World Scale - Decreases the separation of the eyepoints to make you feel smaller
- VR Reset World Scale - Resets the separation of the eyepoints to its default value

- Adjust Seat Forward - Use these controls to adjust the in-game seat position, in fact translating the default camera eyepoint position
- Adjust Seat Backward
- Adjust Seat Up
- Adjust Seat Down

We recommend that you start with LOW graphic level preset, then enable graphic options one by one following your preferences. Doing so will allow you to find the sweet spot balancing resolution / graphic options and performance.

Is there a fix coming yet? Game will not launch to main screen in VR mode. Added -vr to the parameters to no avail.

Do you Need it on your main screen?

If its running in your headset I don't see why this would be a problem. However if you need it to be mirrored there should be an option for that in Steam VR's menu. You should be able to force it to mirror like that.

You can assign a key in the options to enable/disable the screen mirror in vr mode, but it needs to be enabled every time you start the game.

Black screen, never launches to the main game screen. Using Samsung Odyssey+. Funny thing it used to work before VR support.

Black screen for me on Lenovo wmr too. :( I can hear audio but no picture.
i7 RTX2070.

It's a common bug on WMR headsets, if you see the black screen but hear sounds, it's because the game screen in VR starts down below your feet , try looking down and you will see it...

You just have to start the game in normal monitor mode first, set the key for centering VR position , then use it every time you start in VR.

Don't know why the developers still haven't fixed such a silly bug , maybe there is a config file somewhere where we can set the initial VR screen position ?...

Hello everyone,
Could you please tell me how to fix a proper resolution? My monitor is 1920x1080, but the game is shown bigger than the screen, therefore I cannot see the upper right options. And in VR,, I can see everything but the cursor cannot reach the top right options, because it follows the screen resoluton, therefore the cursor cannot reach it.
I tried setting "Launch commands", "-w 1920", but of course, as most parameters in Steam, does nothing.
So I am stock without being able to play the game.

Months later and this problem still exists. Can't move the mouse cursor outside of a small box in the center of the screen. Do these devs ever test anything?

I found a solution. You need to go to the executable file: HD:\Steam\SteamApps\Common\raceroom racing experience\Game\x64\RRRE64.exe or/and (if you play it 32bits) HD:\Steam\SteamApps\Common\raceroom racing experience\Game\RRRE.exe right click the file, choose properties, choose the tab Compatibility, click on Change High DPI setting, mark the box Override High DPI Scaling Behaviour, choose Aplication on the drop down menu.
I recommend to you to do it in both files.
This will resolve the issue of the scaling and you can access the menus without problems.
Most of the games have this option in the settings menu of the game, but the developpers of this game prefer the Users/Clientes/player to become crazy looking for this info.
I hope I fix your problems.
Mine now it's working fine. :steamhappy:

When I press drive and enter the car the car turns left and I'm left looking at the right hand window with the steering wheel to my left. Any help I can get to stop this happening would be much appreciated.

Hi
I am using ALVR to play in VR-3D with my Oculus Go. It works quite perfect and I like it, but I have an incredible problem: When I am on the grid, and I see the list of pilots I have the button to start in the center of the screen, below the pilot list. Using my mouse I have jerky movements, it moves juming here and there, but most sad thing, it avoids to go on the button. I pass literally minutes before I can get the mouse cursor over the button !! That's incredible. Someone has a fix ?? PS: using keyboard or my Joypad did not help, I can't find a key or a button to START....

Do you have a steering wheel connected to your PC? The mouse cursor may be affected by a peripheral that can also be used as a mouse such as a force feed back wheel.

My wheel device is OSW. After you update it, it doesn't support my device. Without FBB, it becomes incompatible?

This thing is a nightmare. VR startup launch option but still have to use -vr in the launch parameters, game is super pixely so gotta use put 2.2 into the launch options as well to get normal visual clarity??? Can't keep a stable 90fps on my 2080ti with 8700k, and my gpu usage is only sitting at like 70%. I'm actually aiming at 120fps, but it almost seems like the game is aiming for 90fps. And this is in a single player lobby on bathurst with only me on track, no ai.
Sometimes you've gotta make sure steamvr is closed before starting, other times it will just work.

The 2.2 supersample and seemingly 90fps target makes it seem like the game is hardcoded to aim at 90hz and vive resolution instead of getting resolution/hz info via steamvr.

I have the same specs (valve index) and my GPU is at around 35-40%. 70% I would say it's already good. The issue here is the cpu, the game like many other games is single threaded. My CPU (core 1) is at around 70-80% which seems to be the maximum for VR. Raceroom has an very old graphics engine that's the problem. I set almost everything to low in the video settings. Except textures and shaders. Visible cars is set to 10. It gives me more performance than tweaking the shadows. SS I set to 1.5 now. On some tracks 2.0 is possible with 90fps. Nordschleife has a really bad performance on my experience.
But I'm not sure it the image quality is getting better. Would be cool to an option to turn off spectators separately. Might help. But now I can't drive without vr any longer :)
