1 is even better than 2
Definitely start from the first, it's one long story. The first is better too.
thanks for the replies, will be checking out the first one

Both deserve to be played. The first is just a timeless classic for me. Two is excellent though.
B1 is literally a 10/10 masterpiece so yeah I would kinda start with that since its in my top 10 games of all time and im almost 34 so iv been playing for a little whiles. B2 is great, superb even with better movement and combat but B1 is the whole package. B2 has cutscenes that literally take you out of the game its no cohesive. B2 has a worse story and the platforming puzzles get annoying on repeat playthroughs.

2 is a great game but 1 is a masterpiece, definitely play 1 first

I played the the 2nd one first and loved it. Went back to the first one and couldn't really get into it.
I liked 2 better because exploration is more fun, and bosses rely less on memorizing patterns and split second dodges, but to each their own.

The original is a much better game. The sequel has 3 weapons instead of just 1 which might sound like an improvement, but they basically just split the OG moveset into 3 (e.g. the plunge attack is on the sword, the dash attack is on the rapiers, the charge attack is on the flail etc), so the combat is not as satisfying. The first game also had much better bosses, you will first try the majority of the sequel's bosses.

Plus, the tone, story and characters were all better in the original. Notably, the cutscene artist left the team, and the sequel has anime cutscenes instead, which are rather jarring.
