Lore implications with the new DLC
Hello I just wanted to make this post since I recently discovered B2 got a DLC so I checked some of it out. I have seen some complaints and some praises. The DLC is not awful, but does not deliver as promised by the looks of it.
My main question is what is the new lore that is being brought with this DLC? What was Crisanta doing? Who is brother Asterion? What happened to the Mea Culpa? What does the new unlockable ending imply?
why do we have Crisanta ascend without us and take off our helmet

I have not found any video explaining it so I am curious if anyone here might know anything
Also I do not know how spoiler text works so this part is also covered even though its outside the limit

Don't have an answer for the lore implications, but for the spoiler tag, you need an opening and closing tag like this: Soylent Green is people!!

As far as I can tell.

Cristanta just woke Penitent One up after being defeated by Eviterno by committing suicide. Then when they finally meet she hands over the hilt she has been keeping.
Asterion is just some random dude tracking you but has nothing to do with the DLC main quest (the clay woman). I don't think there is an item describing him either.
The new ending has the Penitent One send Cristanta to heaven instead of himself. Then he might have abandoned his vow and penitence, judging by him dumping the sword and helmet.

Don't quote me on these though.

I still do not get why he sends her up while he stays back for some reason. I interpret it as the Penitent One redeeming her(?) and staying back and have him break his vow feels random. I can only interpret it as some sort of sequel bait, but I heard from some of the people worked on the games that Blasphemous 3 will release the same day as Half Life 3 which I assume they are done with it for now and wanna do something else. I just find this ending less satisfying and it would be lame if the "true ending" was behind a DLC like in the previous game, but I did not have to pay for that one
In general I am kinda annoyed with Crisanta having as much importance to the lore as the Penitent One. It is like she is one of the developers OC or something.

You need the "four special angels" to be ascend by. The ones that are Altarpieces that you burn to get the Incense of the Envoys to get the Ending A. So, there's only "one ticket to heaven" and you let her ascend instead of you.
