To anyone who is confused on how to get this achievement you must raise the prisoners guillotine all the way up as normal but instead of activating it you must break it with one of your weapons i specifically used the Flail in case it doesn't break with the others as im unsure. Then you must go to the left of the room where you get the mea culpa at the edge of the screen (this also means you'll have to do 2 playthroughs to get the other achievement where you kill him.)

Thanks. I'm still missing 8 new items. Are they sprinkled across the entire map or just the new areas?

im in the same boat there unfortunately im missing 10 items. i dont know if there in old areas or not my guess would be no but i would quote that.
also in case you havent yet the traveling trader sells a new item now so that could be one you might be missing

I was thinking of duplicating my file to avoid a second playthrough. Are any of the other DLC achievements mutually exclusive?

yes im pretty sure all the new achievements require the DLC which is annoying. Ive been enjoying the DLC but i dont like achievements being locked behind payed content.

Maybe the rest of the items are connected to the new game plus rewards.

well.... but where is the prisonern ow? it says you have to meet him after that

sorry i saw a friend break the guillotine in his playthrough and made a assumption so thanks for clearing that up
