Report a translation problem
Because I played a 100% guilt build and never used any spells and I had no problems activating all the ladders with a standard attack.
And the first time(this is my 2nd playthrough of the DLC) I did it with this spell, the bunch of electrified arrows.

Spells are not supposed to break switches. If it did previously, it was a bug that they corrected.
There's another way of breaking that switch, I assure you. Keep on searching!
