The only magic that I've found useful was the toxic lantern...pretty good.
I never bothered with it. Theoretically you could use the statue that increases fire damage and get some value out of it, but it was easier to spend mana on time stop and just crouch and mash attack to twirl Veredicto for crazy damage. Yeah they nerfed time stop, but it still works great with the statue that cuts down on mana costs.
That one is good. If we're including the verses, the one that throws a blade onto the ground that slides forward does a ton of damage if you use it right. Augment it with statues that support prayer damage and Mystical damage and it can be very effective (but not as good as time stop).
