Kinda pissed off about Yerma's sidequest
Spoilers for Yerma's sidequest

So I made it all the way to the last part of her sidequest, she asked for some holy oil. Okay, I thought, I'll explore the rest of Two Moons and see if I can find it. As long as I don't enter the boss room, it should be fine.

Little did I know that entering a completely unmarked room not only opens the door to the boss, but also kills Yerma. Permanently. Moments after discovering this, I actually found the oil elsewhere. I'm so, so mad about that. That was just a really mean thing to do, kill her because i walked into a completely different room. There goes my 100% run I guess.

Oh, I didn't realize the merchant behind the gold bars sells items you may have missed. That's nice, though I still wish i wasn't locked out of her sidequest so I could hear the rest of her story.

I mean, that room you entered was the mirrored version of the boss room, which I think is a pretty obvious tip that it's significant and maybe not to go in there. That whole area is mirrored vertically. But yeah, that does kind of suck to miss the end of her questline because of it.

Same here, I'm really pissed. Talked to Yerma where she requested the oil. Went into the other room while exploring, triggering the cutscene where the boss room got unlocked. I already had a bad feeling because Yerma was not present. Got the oil but no chance anymore to talk to Yerma.

My initial minor complaint about this game was quest failure states and how it was hardly a thing in the sequel. Guess you could fail this one. I found the oil prior to meeting her for the 3rd time so I guess I got lucky.

Where do you even *start* Yerma's quest?

I refused her help for all bosses.
I found the oil that I know she'll request, but the next time I saw her was in Two Moon's boss room… lying dead. :( :(

I never got the chance to talk to her between her previous offer to assist me in the boss fight, and finding her dead body.

I must say that I actually went to Two Moon's boss room before exploring the whole area. Have I missed her there?

It does suck that it's so easy to do, but she barely has anything else to say for what it's worth. There's no real lore or conclusion or anything. The only real difference is which item you get from her and which item you have to get from the shop. Whole thing was very underwhelming. You miss a lot more lore if you refuse her help earlier in the game. As far as I know, all these options count towards the 100% as completing her quest though, they're just three different ways the side story can play out, albeit with one of them being especially underwhelming.

Not a massive amount of compensation but hopefully it's slightly less annoying knowing that you haven't really missed more than a sentence or two of filler dialogue.

You start it by deciding whether to accept or refuse her help. If you don't accept her help in the previous boss fights, she'll automatically be dead in Two Moons. Nothing you could've done at this point.

So you have to ask her for help on all of the boss fights for her to survive and to be able to give her the oil? What do you get?

I believe you need to ask for her help on all the ones she appears at, yeah.

If she survives the questline, she gives you the Zejel of the Cruelst Thorn prayer. If she dies, you get the Chisel-Engraved Wounds rosary. Whichever one you don't get, you can buy from that merchant in Forlorn Patio.

The Yerma sidequest is one of the dumbest things in this game and is designed to trap anyone who played the first game.

@Zero:
Damn, that sucks! That's precisely why I did not accept her help offer… :(

I fell for that trap myself, I thought they were repeating Viridiana again.

Man, just thinking about Viridiana coughing up blood and falling dead makes me sad again.

But Viridiana in B1 is the same as Yerma in B2, because both die if you don't accept their help, correct?
