Lady holding up the temple?

In the labyrinth of tides. I found another way in but it ended with her being crushed... knowing how the first game was I'm wondering if there's another way to do it without crushing her or if that's just her fate. Anyone know?

That's simply her fate but considering that she was in pain and struggling with the burden, you can consider it as an act of mercy despite the tragic outcome. You get an item from her and you can use that item at a certain place, and you get a somewhat of a "happy" resolution. That seemed to have been her will anyway.
Alternatively, you can just let her be and avoid the altar but it would have been a matter of time.

Okay I kinda figured that but I wanted to double check 'cuz w/o ng+ I wanna try and get everything on one playthrough, at least as much as can be done.

No problems. I haven't seen any other possibility. Plus you get one of the collectibles after you complete her quest so if you want to do as much as possible, sadly, you have no other option.
