The final boss is .... urgh
I've been enjoying myself for the most part. Most bosses felt really well tuned and balanced and aside from 1-2 frustrating sections (not even close to B1) the game has been a joy to play.

This all comes to a screeching halt at the final encounter. The second phase of that boss is one of the WORST bosses I have ever encountered. The amount of area damage and frequency of attacks is so off tune that you can barely heal in between his relentless assault of teleport-slashes. All of his attacks deal a freak-ton of damage. It just doesn't feel good - knowing that there's even a third phase after that which you can't practise because you need to do this f**** over and over.

I also find it hilarious that you can't skip scutscenes meaning you'll have to go through his senseless blabbering every time you start the fight. The transition into phase 2 takes like 10 seconds alone (at least). And then there's this embarassing bug on top which sometimes doesn't resolve your guilt upon picking it up which means that every retry could be more and more expensive.

Overall this single part of the game drags the whole game down for me. Blasphemous 2 (which could be way more unforgiving at times) had a MUCH better balanced final boss.

Edit: Finished the game now. Still think the boss is a overtuned but Time Stop basically trivialises the entire fight.

He's a ♥♥♥♥♥, yeah. I had most luck with just using the sword and spamming time stop and then activating blood pact and burst damaging him down (this includes having the bile flasks stop time too), he's just way too fast and spammy otherwise. The final boss is a joke in comparison.

So far my go-to method has been to summon that sword guy with my magic and let him deal a lot of damage - time stop sounds like a good idea as well.

I really hope that they consider fine-tuning his speed/damage just a little. I have full health and all protective beads and it really doesn't seem to matter anyways.

Just did him. First stage is very easy. Took like 2 hours of attemps for second one. First quarter can be trivialized by standing in corner an parrying all attacks, but then real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ begins. Time stop after using flask helped a lot. Even though I messed up with it three time (he got frozen mid air).

If anything Eviterno should be one of the first bosses. He is the only boss even resembling a challenge. I hate it how casualized B2 is but I guess it's to attract larger audience. Try to observe his pattern, he keeps repeating the same moves again and again. And you can dodge through all of them, and through him as well.

The only annoying thing about this guy is the stupid long dialogue you can't skip and the animations before the fight and in between the fight transition.

the final boss doesn't have a second phase

wtf his like the best boss in the game

Really? I thought the final 2 bosses were way to easy. Eviterno's first phase can easily be done without getting hit at all. In his second phase, just constantly keep dodging and try to bait out his lunge attack by keeping about half a screen distance, slide behind him and then spam whatever is your highest dps as long as he is recovering. Rinse and repeat. Done.

Then, the game saves your progress before the final boss fight, so you don't have to do Eviterno again in case you should fail. The final boss itself only has 1 phase and is kind of a joke. He does absurd damage with his blue lasers, yes, but those are pretty easy to avoid by air dashing. The blue orbs can be destroyed quite reliably with Veredicto. I didn't even need magic for those 2 bosses, despite my altarpiece setup being heavily prayer-focused. BUt before I realized that, the show was over lol.

Once you beat Eviterno the game saves. You can go off and finish any remaining quests or items before you fight baby man.

So can I finish the (very) final boss once, do everything for the other ending and then start after Eviterno again or do I have to do his 2 phases once more?

This. OP is talking about the 2nd to last boss. Everybody having trouble with him, use Veredicto (preferably with altarpieces that fill your fervour faster) + time stop. Easy fight.

Yes, I think you have to go back to the last altar, forgot to mention that, sorry. The final boss fight doesn't start until you interact with Eviterno's corpse. But after that, I think you still can go for both endings, just as in B1.
