Fervour bar not restored when grabbing Guilt Fragment?
Sometimes, especially the first time I die after I load a save, grabbing the Guilt Fragment doesn't restore the Fervour bar to its full length, instead doing nothing.

Worse yet, this can happen more than once, meaning that I have to pay a somewhat high sum to the priest guy in town to reset my fervour bar to normal.

It only restores so much, it's intentionally made that way, you won't ever get 100% back from a death, that way your guilt will build up and force you to interact with the priest.

You lose 20% fervor. Getting the fragment restore 18%

The rest you need to confess

There are 2 Rosary Beads and 1 Altarpiece (The Flagellant, $3,000) that reduce the amount of guilt that you "drop" upon death. The Rosary Beads appear in the white flowers in the Confessor's room once you've had your guilt removed enough times.

I never used them the entire game, but if you're looking for full recovery w/o having to confess as frequently you might experiment and see what happens if you're in an area where you're dying often.

There is a bug where you will get 0% of your guilt fragment back in some places. Unfortunately as of now you have to tithe to get your fragments back.

You need to confess to the father how much you sucked and he will forgive you. I had to tell him many times how I got juggled to death by candle-halberd charges.

"Died too many times to the boss? lol ♥♥♥♥ you go back to the city, talk to some guy and waste cash before you can try again"
Really don't know why they thought this'd be a good idea

I think that's a bug...let's hope that it will be addressed quickly (or at least that they explain to us that it's intentional since it looks a lot like a bug)

It’s intentional, there was confirmation of it on a bug report post about this exact topic.

Recovering your guilt fragment doesn’t fully remove guilt (you gain 20% guilt on death, you recover 18% when picking up the fragment). Eventually it is going to force you to go to the confessor to pay him to remove your guilt assuming you want your fervor bar back.

I don’t know how the items that affect guilt (rosary beads and a figure apparently?) play into it however since I haven’t died enough to get them.

We know that, we are saying when we collect our guilt shards, there are times were you get NOTHING back, when you're supposed to get 18% back.

Its intencional, they changed that from the first game, the good thing is the guy actually rewards you if you die too many times, and you get so rich by the end of the game that getting your fervour bar back is not a big deal.
