*Spoiler Can't Break a certain altarpiece figure

I am trying to get the Maiden figure to break and no matter how many times i get killed by an enemy or die from pit with it equipped nothing happens. Any advice?

Wait mine broke.. idk how, I don't think I even died, I think I just came close to death.. but now idk what to do with it, is there a purpose for it ??

You bring it back to the individual you got it from. The NPC that is in the ground spewing honey. I unfortunately can't remember his name.

To get to the NPC go to the far right save point in Choir of Thorns. Once there continue to the right. You'll need to do this 3x to get the final version that increase critical hit chance and attack by 10%.

For what it's worth I just ran around with it equipped while I was backtracking. It was broken every time I re-did my load out. Unclear whether it's deaths, getting hit, falling into spikes, etc. that prompt the breaking. But, wear it long enough and it will break.

Equip, mindlessly kill and check from time to time if its broken yet.
Dying doesnt break it.
