If I had to pose a guess, I'd say they're doing that because the original artist (a russian) left due to the publisher deciding the game won't be sold in Russia for good boy points. Easy material for people to stir ♥♥♥♥ up with, even if they brought it upon themselves.

They look way too clean dont you think?
What? No...they were a nightmare to make, even the smaller one was like a month of working, and thats only talking about the final animation...it was imposible to make more cutscenes with that style
From one of the animators two months ago in Madrid.
Is the same studio that made the DLC animations...and the war wasnt even started at that point.
but its valid to not like them , I think they're pretty good and more detailed than the first one.
