Is there a 60fps lock?
I want to play at 120 or 144fps.

Yes this does matter even for pixel games. Makes the game play smoother.

Is there anything in the display settings that say "refresh rate" or something?

Animations are tied to 60 fps

This really doesn't matter bruv. Higher than 60 refresh rates affect things other than animations.

The animation itself may update at a certain rate, but the movement of the character itself, camera panning, and sometimes things like particles and such can all easily be affected by higher framerates, not to mention lower input lag.

Really don't like the 60 fps cap, please don't come with "game is sprites animated - you don't need more than 60 fps" if you ever played at 120hz + you know what im talking about.

yep, 60 fps feels slow and laggy after playing at 165 fps for a while :/

Disable VSync, then the game is locked at 60hz. Is way more smooth as 72, as you get no microstutter.

So is the 60 fps lock confirmed? Pretty disappointing if so..

im playing at 144hz monitor, all my games running at 144fps
this game is running at 72fps (weird number?) but it looks like a dream and I do not see any tearing or any issues whatsoever.

2D pixelated games are not on the same depth as 2D handrawn stuff as in hollow knight or other 2D games like Ori n the blind forest (which are basically mostly 2.5D anyway)

it does not benefit from the high refresh rate.

this game does not (currently at least) have any options to alter this
you can turn vsync on which will likely lock the game to 60 or play it as 72
the game runs perfectly fine and 2D pixelart games are meant to be played like this.

Explain the game Dead Cells then.

It absolutely makes a difference. It may not be a deal breaker for you but it is for me and it 100% is a noticeable thing.

i agree with you.
in deadcells its noticeable and I have around maybe 50 hours in that game,.

Im saying in this game it doesnt, its a matter of what engine/method/language the devs used to make the game.

You can buy and refund it if you think it doesn't work with you somehow, good luck with it.

every game with continuous motion benefit from higher refresh rates because of the lower motion blur caused by the image persistence in our eyes. see https://www.testufo.com/persistence, https://www.testufo.com/eyetracking, https://www.testufo.com/ghosting and https://www.testufo.com/

This is wrong just don't listen to this guy. Honestly tired of a bunch of people who know nothing about the topic chiming in with misinformation about refresh rates.

Also, the fact that it's smooth at 72fps on your 144hz monitor for you is because, surprise: 144/2 = 72.

also, why is the in-game vsync capping the framerate to half the refresh rate? i'm currently using the nvidia control panel vsync because of this...
the game still has some frame skipping or whatever going on here (constant sideways camera movement isn't really smooth) with vsync + frame cap, but eh, it's playable.

there is some weird ♥♥♥♥ going on with 144hz monitors. Game runs smooth as butter when I set the monitor to 60hz, vsync on.
