Report a translation problem
I wonder, if there will be a kind of translation patch/ spreadsheet out there, after Zerofield got busted?
The quality of the Zerofield translation of Kuro 1 was outstanding and contains nearly any dialogue in its latest revision, even most of the NPC dialogue around Edith…
It is also a shame that there is no Japanese text in that version… What did I learn Japanese for then?
There will be some sort of translation available, not zerofield level, but you don't have much options anyway. Essentially, it will be no different to what we had back then when only game avaiable in English was FC. Some sort of badly made and quickly edited machine translation, not even as good as Fire's edit of Zero translation, but the times before it. Still playable. Or wait till 2025
If NISA speeds things up (unlikely) we might get Kuro 1 mid-2024, Kuro 2 mid-2025
I'm really intend to buy it, 'cos I already got Hajimari no Kiseki & Kuro no Kiseki in Steam thanks to English community patch.
I'm going to buy western releases on console anyway on its release, but want to play these games ASAP.
As long as there is no translation or not even Japanese text it is impossible. I will not buy the game until then. Even not for 10% discount.
I really appreciate the hard work of Zerofield, Kuro 1’s translation was really gorgeous. They did not get any of the appreciation they deserve. I also thought about translating it myself, but the game is far too texty, my Japanese is still on a very low level (thanks to bloody Kanjis) and English is not my native tongue…
Maybe I could translate it into German. I guess NISA can’t say anything against that, because they never do German subtitles. And machine/ app translation from German into English is far better with the cultural references and common vocabulary both languages share.
1) They've been lazy and inefficient since they started as a company
2) The Falcom community never demands better from them, because they're afraid too much criticism will make them stop translating the series.
The fact that the entire community didn't collectively fling ♥♥♥♥ at NISA after what they did to Zerofield is why they'll never improve
Yeah, I already know that trick. Made me learn some of the Kanjis...
But translation from Japanese is awkward, because there are so many differences in sayings and culture that you have to guess what they mean, if you don't know the language.
English vs. German on the other side works pretty well - but these languages are pretty similar, like Italian and French.
I started to learn Japanese about ten years ago - low level of course. Kuro 1 with it's NPC-dialogue was a good practice and I improved my reading as well as my general knowledge in Japanese conversation. I used to play an earlier build of the translation patch, so there was a lot of NPC-dialogue untranslated which helped me a lot.
Now the problem is that the game is in Chinese. Chinese is the hardest language to learn - it is kind of Ultra-Extremee-Japanese but with pitch, more different sayings, meanings are riddles and the scripture are only very complicated compound-Kanjis... I have respect for everyone learning this language. And thatwhy app translation of Chinese doesn't make sense at all.
It is really very unselfish of the Zerofield team that they did us such a great favour - to translate a game with 1,000,000 words just for just...
It would be embarrassing to expect the team to do that one again. Especially after what NISA did to the team.
It was just my thought experiment though to translate it myself into German. I am not sure, if my limited knowledge of the Japanese language would help here even with app translation. But the problem #1 ist that there is not even Japanese text in the game... sadly!
You are right to be angry against NISA. Same here with me. I don't know, if it is NISA alone or if Falcom has it's fair share though.
All while Falcom itself is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ company imaginable
