fish tailing
how do you prevent fish tailing beyond 2nd gear? the car has a mind of its own in 3rd gear. it would erratically just snap to one side or the other. makes it impossible to play. also car feels like its stalling when you are in 1st gear after a crash or failed drift.

First. it'd like to know the car you were driving, since every cars drive very differently. Some cars slides a lot while some stay pretty tame. And for the stalling, in Time Attack with Penalty on (or in races online), if you crash hard, the game reduces your car's power in order to penalise the player, mostly in order to discourage crashing too hard, too often or wallriding and try to courage the player to drive cleanly.

The game lets you drift just by turning into a corner at most speeds, unlike most other games where it takes either a braking drift or Scandinavian Flick to initiate a drift. This means that if you try to steer, you'll often oversteer into an unwanted slide. Even after 100 hours, I can barely control the cars because they just will not stick when I need them to. I've already cited this as a negative point in my review and multiple times in the community. It's a huge problem for me and some others on controller but the responses I've gotten so far just amount to, "skill issue."
