MacOs - While we wait - run through Whisky or Crossover
Hello there! The name's Kindle. Over the course of the past few months, myself and some others in the discord community & steam community have been testing this game using compatibility layers for MacOs.

What these do is essentially translate instructions that work on windows, to ones that work on MacOs. It has been tested to work specifically well on Apple silicon Macs.

If you like, you're welcome to check out the guides for both platforms!

* Whiskey (Free): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3281396810
* Crossover (Paid, 14-day trial): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3229913597

M1 and M2 macs get a little hot & take a hit while running it, while M3 handles it like a champ!
To mitigate slowdowns, what can be done is to set the idle framerate to something like 5FPS, that way the Mac can better multitask to whatever is being done.

If there are other Macs that get tested, such as intel-based ones and they run well for you, feedback regarding that, or just simply about the guides is appreciated!

Hope these are able to help, & best of luck!

Thank you for this! Does this solution also work with Sequoia?

is there any plan for mac support?

I wonder, what the 2025 roadmap survey revealed about demand for the game to work on Mac. Whisky isn't an option, as I'm on a company laptop and hesitant in downloading all the stuff that is required to use it. And it doesn't work with Parallels, which is a shame, as I have this on my mac anyway.

Spirit City has been running fine for me on a base M1 Air w/ CrossOver but it is a bit blurry. When I first launched the game it opened a webpage to download AMD drivers but I am not experienced enough with CrossOver to know whether this is something I can or should try doing in the current bottle. Thoughts? Nbd if there's no answer, I can live with this until it gets an official Mac update.

I would love to know this as well. I am dying for a Mac version.

Really would like to know the roadmap for 2025 as well- Wish listed for now since a while until hopefully a Mac version will be released
Mac version is my #1 request for this app- I do all my programming and stuff on it, and would really love to have this running while I do it.

If you have a Windows 11 ARM VM through something like Parallels, it should be able to run well through that. Currently testing the game on Windows arm64 (Snapdragon X Plus as the SoC) and it feels about the same as it does on my x86_64-based desktop PC.

I am also waiting for a mac version. Commenting to follow this thread for any updates/news on a potential ETA
commenting to follow thread- so excited for a mac version!
Every day I log in to steam just to see if this is available for Mac yet.

Every day I am sad :(

Yoo, thank you for this guide! I actually did get it working on whisky on my own, but I hope this helps some people who haven't been through the "How do I get this Windows thing working on my Mac" wringer. I can confirm it does work through Whisky, and I'm on an M1 - it definitely takes a hit, but I can still keep it running while having one other desktop buddy and a few programs running, so it's not too bad.

Hoping for a MacOS release for realsies, though, because it does eat up a TON of my RAM and I'd love to have a native version!

I can also confirm that this runs smoothly on Whisky on my Macbook Pro (M2 Chip).

Steam was having difficulty running on Whisky, but I was able to troubleshoot with some help from the Whisky discord and everything runs smooth now.

Best of wishes to folks who are awaiting the Mac release - and to those who may try the Whisky route.

This game is absolutely beautiful - I love it much too much - thank you devs! :GoopiiGreen:

Could you please share your fix for steam on Whisky? It stopped working after the latest steam update.
