For some reason, being able to pay to advance in the game (your equipment, spells) feels kind of pay2win to me; do I have an incorrect view here? In fairness I never played Ascend so I have no clue what purchasing equipment or upgrading spells means in the context of the game, but I assume it would give some kind of advantage?
And not that paying to advance in the game is an evil thing or anything like that; I'm just curious. I tend to be a bit off-put when I see in-app purchases, though I also realize the game is completely free lol (though personally I'd rather just pay for it up-front!) I'm speaking largely out of ignorance here and I don't mean to demean the decisions made; just trying to better understand.
I can't fault it too much due to the fact that the game is completely free, but, personally I tend to shy away from these kind of games because these kinds of things are kind of immersion-breaking for me; would be nice to be able to disable those prompts for those of us who will never spend money to buy souls.
Because, personally, I wouldn't spend money on souls but I would absolutely spend money on this game as a whole if it didn't have the in-app purchases. But perhaps I represent the very small minority here; I'm sure the team looked at this quite hard before making these decisions.
And I hope nothing but the best for them; just sharing my own personal opinion here.
And sure, it does give a player a bit of an upper hand, but they still have to level up to find better items, even in the gear store, and ascend like everyone else.
