Tom Riddle's Diary Platform out of reach

I'm at the part in Riddle's Diary where you cause the vines to retract and drop two platforms then you hover them into place to climb over the ledge.

I'm not sure what has happened but I can't reach one of the platforms because it fell on the ledge above. I would just restart but there is already a known glitch where leaving the level midway will make it so you can't return. Has anyone else run into this?

Well I took a risk and tabbed out to the desktop then right click closed the game instead of exiting throught the menu (exit to hogwarts). Seems to have reloaded an earlier save file without triggering the Tom Riddle Diary Glitch.

I know this is from 6 years ago, but just had the same thing happen to me. Had no idea about this level's infamous skipping glitch, and exited out. Well, guess it's time to restart the entire game.
