Spartan Total Warrior was so much better than ViKing (RANT)

I was so ampped about getting this game! I wrongly assumed that the same type of game play that I enjoyied in Spartan would be in ViKing too!

* Running is slow, I think a stamina meter would have been better
* When you die you repawn back in the village or if in battle out side the gates that SUPER annoying not a pentally.
* I've only played the 1st level but there seem to be no side kicks characters
* I'm not a fan of RTS but for folks who make a lot of them there is no way to stratigize attacking a group of enimes by your self like there was in Spatan game. Yet your almost always lone-wolf until set points in the game.
* then they even added Q.T.E's for the taking down bigger characters and button mashing just to open a chest, no random loot? thats the least they could do.

there are more issues but those are my major gripes.

In the Spatan game after you got past a certain hit combo level, you did medium special attack.
If the combat was tight and the game didn't seem so slow over all I could forgive a lot of other stuff.

And i also saw that game called Warriors: Legends of Troy only on console that looked nice OK

What that game looks so bad, it is just a button masher, even Viking takes more skills than that... At least you have to time your blows, dodge or block... And what is it with people and their rants about slow downs... I have 0 issues with slow downs in the game... And yeah opening chests is button mashing... What do you call Spartan then? I played Spartan and not half as good as viking, not even the same gameplay... Spartan is more of a button masher than anything I have ever played... And to be honest i did not enjoy spartan one bit...

WOW, I was pointing out gameplay only. I can't belive you like such dull game. Spartan wasn't a stellar story but the combat did required skill. ViKing’s block is omnidirectional; Spartans block wasn't. You had to watch your back. The slow-mo timing in Spartan was way better placed in combat.

I’ve played and beat Ninja Gaiden Black on Master Ninja Mode. That is one of the greatest games ever made in my opinion.
I played enough games to know when the A.I. just gangs up on you and has an unfair advantage. To me its sad that this game was made by folks that make RTSs.

Easy or Not I just thought the later was more Fun.

Spartan was one of my favourites. I finished it about 3 times. I've bought viking and am yet to play it, but I really hope I end up disagreeing with your review. :p

I loved Spartan so much dude. It is an epic game, I think this Viking port sold poorly so Sega isn't interested to port the old school Spartan game... Which totally sucks because it is one of my fav games of all time actually.

ALSO VKING IS A GOOD ENOUGH GAME FOR ME I STILL LOVE IT BUT SPARTAN BETTER!
