FFS, get your culture right
Another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ studio with a good (for once!) but totally ignorant and uneducated art direction that doesn't know the difference between trashy, uninspired, tasteless 80s and actual subtle, educated and refined 90s design. At least a dozen of the elements and cues of the design in the trailer are from strictly overdone 80s neon cyberpunk animation and NOT 90s

It's almost as if the 80's informed and influenced the early 90's.

Not sure why the 80s and 90s are enemies now, but this looks nothing like any actual 80s anime I've seen (or 90s). In fact, I don't recall most classic anime having a color palette like this. It looks more like the 2010s misremembered version of cyberpunk.

the color palette is not the 80s because it's not the 80s, it's the year 2090 and it's supposed to look futuristic, neon and overall retarded.
I guess the 80s part of the game is the artstyle of the characters and shít and also le epic akira reference

Yes, pretty much this overtired, tasteless, uncultured cyberpunk remembrance from reddit teenagers who just discovered what they wrongfully call "synthwave". At least Kavinsky made it right back in 2005 when it was actually trendy and a new retro stuff.

This game is a misunderstood mixed mash of things that have nothing to do with the 90s. The latest Turtle Mutant Ninja does it right but then it's done by people who actually know the culture (that I know personally).

Why Would You Say Something So Controversial
Yet So Brave?

Game looks good, art looks sweet. Doesnt matter about anything else.

Also there were anime that looked like this, Bubblegum Crisis comes to mind, heck that one even has a mullet.

Hmm, personally, I don't think it looks like Bubblegum Crisis at all. Both have big hair and robots, but that's not the same as having a similar art style.

The game looks fine, but closer to 3D Hotline Miami with neon Terminators than anything classic, imo.

Ya I cant say it matches historic stuff, but I can understand the Vibe. Like when I watched Redline, it for sure gave me some retro feel, even though it was completely modern.

The bright mix of colors with gritty robots just made Bubblegum Crisis pop in my head, might be more Tokyo 2040 than Original.
